I too was thinking about Nani & Meethi being in danger bcoz of AKT but not in this context. I thought may be he'll bad mouth about Imlie being characterless in front of the villagers that would put both nani & meethi in danger. Your's looks more appropriate & quite possible. IMO, he was showing more of a protective nature. He has seen her literally go through so many hurdles and insults that he is baffled about why she would still keep going back and therefore wants to protect her. They both have shared their pain with each other so that kinda made this "Dard ka rishta" wala bonding btwn them. So he is just being protective of her as he doesn't want to see her go through more pain because of AKT as he has been going through.

Possessive and territorial hoga lekin thoda waqt lagega. Jealous toh banda nahi hain uske liye interest % ko bohot badhna padega.
