Tejo felt like every single cell of her body was in pain... The knife was in her back, both literally and metaphorically, and she couldn't see the wound or blood... but it hurt like hell. Her body was threatening to pass out, too much blood was lost, and that would give her freedom from this pain which was ripping her into shreds every moment... but she had to keep walking. She needed to find Fateh. His life was in danger. Angad was going to kill him...she couldn't let that happen.
With her wobbling knees, tears running down her face, leaving behind a trail of blood and pain which was killing her every moment, she tried looking for him.
Fateh saw her as he walked down the corridor. A smile spread on his face, but he quickly sensed, something was wrong. Tejo was crying... As he rushed to her, all of a sudden two things happened.
"Fateh...fatehhh....hide..." Tejo was running towards him, barely able to speak anything...while her lips moved, no voice escaped.
Then he was shot in back with six bullets, and he couldn't breathe.
Fateh wanted to see who shot him, but right now there was Tejo, breathless and almost collapsed in his arms. As he tried to hold her, he found out what was wrong...there was a knife in her back.
This hurt him more than the six bullets which would inevitable take his own life.
"teejooo...." he couldn't say or do anything...just see as she was losing her life, right in front of him.
"Fatehhh..." she was dying. She knew. But she lost. She couldn't save Fateh... only if she were able to run faster, warn him.... but she needed to be with him during his... their last moments.
"I'm sorry...couldn't reach earlier...jasmine stabbed me..." she whispered.
"I'm sorry...it's all because of me..." Fateh tried to apologize.
"No...not now....let us go with some peace... I don't want to remember anyone but you..." Tejo said...as suddenly a tremor of pain shot through her body.
She was about to faint, and for the first time, Fateh was not strong enough to hold her. His body gave way and he dropped on his knees with Tejo in his arms.
Tejo looked at him, at his eyes, and smiled. They embraced each other tighter, as if they were the only ones who were keeping each other alive, stealing a few more moments from life.
She looked at him, and put her lips on his.
Fateh smiled slightly in the kiss. Somehow all the pain was gone.
They both deepened the kiss, and their embrace, and when their consciousness left them, their bodies were still entwined together, while their souls had left together.
