Lights Out For 83 On Second Monday

83 (Hindi) saw a huge fall in collections on its second Monday as it collected in the 1.75 crore nett range which is a 60-65% drop from the Friday. Despite the rejection, the film managed stay afloat over the holiday period as this is a very good time business in metro multiplexes but it was lights out as soon as these holidays finished.

The second week business of the film looks to be heading towards the 25 crore nett mark and it could be that Pushpa (Hindi) has a better third week than the second week of 83 (Hindi). The only target now for the film is to see if it reaches the 100 crore nett mark although that will hardly make a difference to the final outcome. If we take all formats then the film will cross 100 crore nett but like that Pushpa has already crossed 200 crore nett.

The collections till date of the film are 88 crore nett. The film got huge benefit of no new release on a holiday weekend which enabled the film to get a some collections in the second weekend. Had it not been for the holiday weekend this fall would have probably come on Friday. The collections of 83 (Hindi) till date are as follows.

Week One - 67,83,00,000

Friday - 4,25,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 7,25,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 7,00,00,000 apprx

Monday - 1,75,00,000 apprx

Second Week - 20,25,00,000 apprx (4 days)

TOTAL - 88,08,00,000 apprx

I mean obviously they don't care about the quality of movies just the box office. That's their job. And since this movie is not doing well they will bash it while they praised Simmba or other shitty masala movies

The film will crawl and recover the cost.

Covid, Pushpa and Spiderman are not the only reason for its first week under performance. The biggest sports events are watched on TV.

Waiting for OTT. This film has shown that Ranveer can play ANY role.He will reap rich rewards this year. More money, more brands , more films.

Also very happy for Kapil Nd his WC team. They deserved this film. This quality of film..an honest film.

TOH and Zero made 7-8 crores in the 2nd week. 83 made that on single Saturday and Sunday .

The italic matters. The heroes got their glory long overdue.

The film got great love and reviews. The cast is getting great reviews.

Money will be recovered from streaming.

If they had decided to release it on OTT well in time instead of waiting for so long and increasing budget of the film, they would've made more money I think. I am sure digital streaming sites would lap up in getting premiere rights for such a film. The whole film ecosystem doesn't care about the glorious reviews or Ranveer's performance or Kapil Dev's legacy, they care about return of their investments. This will hit everyone in the business.

I don't care much for the *attention seeking* couple - But yeh it blows that a movie on some of the great cricket legends failed this badly! Truly disheartening.

But then again if it were a success attention seeking duo would have taken all the credit especially the one who is supposedly not the "main character" 🤢 So whatever I suppose. Mehhh and move on!

Let's see which movie is remembered 50 years from now. 83 or Sooryavanshi or Pushpa? The answer is clear.
