Don't worry. Just as Imlie has matured so has Aryan. The shades and glimpses of the old Aryan will surface from time to time but if anything him letting that Aryan out makes him even more complex and human. Even if the writers decide to butcher him for TRPs this is the Aryan I will likely be shipping for a long time to come.

Good point. I debated that timeline right until I posted the story. But settled for this time period.

1st: Both Aryan and Imlie are going to learn from Meethi and Satyakaam. Meethi pined after a man who was never worth her and never was going to be hers. He had made his choice when he walked away from her. Imlie has seen her struggles. Her situation mirrors her mother’s. Which is why you hear Aryan ask if she will make the same mistake as her mother. Aryan learns from Satyakaam. He could have persisted, taken a risk and had his chance at happiness earlier instead of waiting on the sidelines. Aryan will not accept the same fate.

2nd: You see, Aryan maybe a sweetie (to Imlie) but he is an alpha at his core. He has found his mate and he is not interested in waiting around. When he finds something he wants, that he believes in, he goes after it. He knows she is fragile, he knows it will take time, hence the whole platonic offer (apne pair pe kulhadi jo marni thi) 🤦🏻‍♀️.

3rd: don’t worry ye bat udhaar nahi rahegi , Even though Aryan believes she is her own person, he wants to haq jatao on her on some subconscious level and he wants to give that same right to her 🤦🏻‍♀️ There is that word, haq again, it has been so overused by Aditya and Malini in the serial but an apt word here. In his mind once that commitment is made, him to her, her to him, Imlie gets the societal acceptance of being his wife, he will back off and let her take the time to heal.

I am hoping to say more about the time of his self enforced semi-platonicism (as the writer of this story I took the liberty to punish him for hurrying the timeline) in an upcoming story, IF it fits. We’ll see.
Long answer but maybe it will explain my thought process behind the short wait before marriage.

Thank you for your reply. I understand your viewpoint. Yes they will not wait like Meethi or Satyakaam. They will learn from Meethi and Satyakaam's mistake. And take action once they know their feelings. But I still feel they will need some more time to develop feelings of love for each other. for some time they won't allow themselves to feel anything for each other. Especially Imlie may become numb. I remember once I lost a dear one. After 6 months I realised that even though I was going to office, doing my household duties, etc normally, but I was mourning from inside. And that loss, that hurt felt somewhat less after 6 months. Then I started becoming my normal self. So I feel that their progress will be same as you showed in your story but at a slow space. This is what I feel. But I loved the growth in their relationship. I loved your writing and your story. And I like that you don't go OTT in your scenes or writing.

Beautiful chapter – very touching and I wishhh we get to see something like this in the show.

- Aryan proposes and Imlie doesn’t say no – her response was interesting. She obviously didn’t want to lose him even though she may not consciously love him… yet. He said he will be persistent but he didn’t come across pushy. Love this balance of asking for what you want and being assertive but he made an effort not to demand. Later on, in his conversation with Arpita, I like how he realises he could so easily manipulate her to do what he wishes. Very thoughtful.

- Imlie’s thoughts that night are so realistic – she’s not swooning over him yet but reflecting on what she actually wants her life to be like and the choices she should make.

- The insight into Aryan’s mind was intriguing. The journey he has taken from Aru to Aryan and also how his perception of Imlie changed was really well written.

- Arpita – love this character so much (even in the show). What was lovely was that she is so balanced and although she wanted them to get together, like Aryan, she wasn’t being pushy about it. She didn’t go and sell her brother to Imlie like you would imagine one may, instead she got Imlie to reflect, think and come up with what she wants.

- I absolutely love how both siblings love Imlie but allow her to make her own choice without any emotional manipulation or arm twisting.

- The dinner scene was amusing – reminded me of that ‘Aru, bichari bachi ko nashta to karne de’ scene 😊

- Conditions – YES – I love it! She has grown so much! She knows what she wants, she is asking for her rights and she is doing it confidently and respectfully. Go Imlie!

- Aryan’s amendment ! This whole scene made me laugh. Bichara – he is definitely in a conundrum now. I feel like his attraction to her now will grow even more as he has already confessed his feelings so he won’t need to hide it. I think this whole situation may allow Imlie to see him in a different light… let’s see.
