Aww the confesssion of Aryan to Imlie remembering all was beautifully potrayed in the narrative and the flashback scene.👍🏼

Hopefully we can see some of Aryan's inner monologue too.😉

Thank you! @bold, I so appreciate that thought. I might have to meditate on that. 👍🏼

I think it was Zara2021 who called Aryan a shaatir dimaag. He is shaatir. Shrewd and calculating. That’s why she calls him a calculator right? Perfect example of how an attribute that is generally considered to be in contrast to romance can be used for the right purpose, at the right time by the right person 😉

Love, love, loooove whatever you have written so far with these two and where you are taking the story! The universe you made for them and their characters are so on-point despite not being exactly what they are in the show, and this just makes it so likeable. Also, I like how you've written them in a more mellow, warm and soft space rather than delving too much on the sexual tension/chemistry that persists, because frankly, they do have a deeper connection than what I foresee the makers doing with them. I wanted to know if that was a conscious decision on your part, and to try and make them distinctive from what conspired between her and Aditya.

Aryan, toh is such a loveable character, and you (and all the other brilliant writers here too) keep adding to his charm with the little tidbits adding on to his personality. That has made the lines between the Aryan in the show and the Aryan in my head (created all thanks to you and the other writers) have scarcely distinctive boundaries and if the makers ever try to malign him, I wouldn't register it as canon. :)

Also, the fact that he did cleverly steer Imlie's train of thoughts where he wanted to take them, but the unpredictability of the woman in question and the scenario in general make it such an enjoyable read.

And this is probably what the grey in his character persists, because if he did have feelings for her back then (which I now believe is canon, all thanks to you!), then quite a few of his intentions and/or actions, calculated or not, dwell on his fondness for her, and weren't purely of just empathy for another human being. This also makes for an interesting 'conflict' in the story because let's face it, no one is as all-white as media sometimes likes us to believe and so maybe, a couple of Aditya's accusations might be true, that Aryan was doing things for selfish reasons. And a few of those things contributed to the downfall of the already wrecked ship that was Imlie and Aditya's relationship. (I have zero. nil. nada. liking for him and his behaviour but hear me out) I'm not saying it happened because of Aryan. No, their relationship was doomed from the very roots on which it was built up on, the fact that Aditya never extended to Imlie the trust and belief a partner deserves and also undermining her just because he thought of her more as a child/teenager than an equal partner. (This is based off of my perception of these two because I didn't follow their story but have seen some of their last interactions, so excuse me here)

But coming back to Aryan, some of his behaviour in the last couple of weeks (in canon) could have been to 'use' Imlie to instigate Aditya per se, but when and where those boundaries got blurred and if he withdrew from actively doing that because he realised it was wrong is well, something only he knows. But this makes a really good crack in his 'too good to be true' persona, and makes him well, human!

Khair, this got a little too long but I've been a silent observer here for a couple of weeks now, and your story just made me pour down quite a lot of my jumbled up thoughts, so thanks to you!

Keep writing more, because this story is heading forward so beautifully, and I'm kaafi invested (as the wholeass paragraph before this shows :) Would looove to read more of what you write for them in the future!

Love,

Laiba

Thank you for tagging me. I liked your writing. I liked how gradually they open up to each other. Also how he has supported her. And i liked how he broached the marriage topic. Shows how he understands her. But I think 3months is a short time. This whole process should have taken a longer time. For a girl who has loved so intensely. She would need longer time to think of someone or go ahead. Same thing with Aryan. His character is such that he too will need more time to know her, understand her, become friends with her and then fall in love with her. And some more time to understand and acknowledge his feelings.

Good point. I debated that timeline right until I posted the story. But settled for this time period.

1st: Both Aryan and Imlie are going to learn from Meethi and Satyakaam. Meethi pined after a man who was never worth her and never was going to be hers. He had made his choice when he walked away from her. Imlie has seen her struggles. Her situation mirrors her mother’s. Which is why you hear Aryan ask if she will make the same mistake as her mother. Aryan learns from Satyakaam. He could have persisted, taken a risk and had his chance at happiness earlier instead of waiting on the sidelines. Aryan will not accept the same fate.

2nd: You see, Aryan maybe a sweetie (to Imlie) but he is an alpha at his core. He has found his mate and he is not interested in waiting around. When he finds something he wants, that he believes in, he goes after it. He knows she is fragile, he knows it will take time, hence the whole platonic offer (apne pair pe kulhadi jo marni thi) 🤦🏻‍♀️.

3rd: don’t worry ye bat udhaar nahi rahegi , Even though Aryan believes she is her own person, he wants to haq jatao on her on some subconscious level and he wants to give that same right to her 🤦🏻‍♀️ There is that word, haq again, it has been so overused by Aditya and Malini in the serial but an apt word here. In his mind once that commitment is made, him to her, her to him, Imlie gets the societal acceptance of being his wife, he will back off and let her take the time to heal.

I am hoping to say more about the time of his self enforced semi-platonicism (as the writer of this story I took the liberty to punish him for hurrying the timeline) in an upcoming story, IF it fits. We’ll see.
Long answer but maybe it will explain my thought process behind the short wait before marriage.

Also, apologies for de-tracking from what I originally planned to do, which is appreciate the story and this chapter in particular. *grins sheepishly because has too many feels for this ship*

The library, of all places becoming their personal space, and the two of them organically and gradually finding and picking up pieces of each other from around (literally and metaphorically) is beautiful. And, yes, finally Aru makes an appearance!!!! I absolutely loove it when the Aru in his aRYaN siNgH rATHOre demeanor shines through, it's such a fun read. And as @Zara mentioned, the fact that his confession was so heartfelt and genuine, and didn't reek of any grandeur made it, for the lack of a better word, absolutely endearing! Brownie points to him for picking up on the fondness Imlie was developing for him, and I like that you made it so that her changing feelings for him didn't go unnoticed, and he made a move as soon as he felt was appropriate.

Also, the stares-at-you-when-they-think-you're-not-looking is a trope I live forrr, and Aru toh is 100% living up to it, and I loove it! Also, the domesticity that you inculcate in the scenes as if it's their second nature (the hair braiding, the chai session here and all the tiny details) is one of my favourite things about this fic.

more love at these two, the fic and you! <3

So many good points Laiba. I will try to address at least some. An essay deserves a fitting reply after all 😉

1. Did I intentionally tone down the drama? YES. I can’t stand melodramatic behavior and OTT. Imlie has grown and matured in my story just like most women no matter how silly they are in their teenage years, do.
2. I also felt that she has had enough turbulence in her life and her ship needs to be in calm waters again before the waters turn choppy. This time though Aryan will be that steady hand that will help steer, TOGETHER.
3. I am a strong believer of karma. You may have realized that from the story. I mean how many times is that question asked, why do bad things happen to someone who is so good she positively radiates goodness. Imlie’s karmas have earned her Aryan.

4. I am hoping my muse is going to help me draw on Aryan’s greyness when he confronts Aditya. I am sure you can guess this will happen at some point. But again where Imlie and things that concern Imlie are concerned he is mellower and more forgiving. Because that is Imlie’s need. She cannot watch him burn in anger/ thirst for retribution because she believes that will destroy his core. (She has not seen the rakshabandhan wala happy go lucky Aryan, but she knows he is lurking under all the layers he has wrapped around him). Imlie’s needs are his needs. Plain and simple.

5. I had taken a long break from Imlie and while I did raise a brow at Aryan’s entry when I watched out of curiosity, what drew me was the scene where he caught her sleeping in his office. I have since binged their scenes a couple of times. I agree, there was a point when I think he considered using Imlie. “Let the games begin, Mr Tripathi” when he sent them on assignment together. I will not get a chance to explore this point further in this SS. Me thinks, so in Aryan’s honor, ye baat udhaar rahi.
6.@bold 2: I agree, on some level Aditya was always patronizing Imlie. He is temperamental and easily influenced by Malini. The latter, his belief in Malini over Imlie is the straw that broke the camel’s back. Aryan simply had to tweak a couple of things, sit back with popcorn and watch the show. But I see him leaning forward because Imlie gets his attention. Her inherent goodness appeals to that in him. He has simply created this persona to be strong for his family, to be able to avenge his brother’s death, but it is only Imlie that can draw his inherent sweetness out.

As far as another SS. I don’t know how people do it but this one has sucked up my brain, to tell you the truth I am out of my own character obsessing over these two in this story. So unless my muses really make me do it again, I am not sure there will be another story. I feel like I am pouring in all that I have, again I have never been so involved in a pair of fictional characters to go out on a limb and write stories. If my family knew they would laugh, they all know how I hated writing essays. I guess what they did t kniw was I hate writing essays on random topics, but here we go as evidenced above with this essay, I do like writing about topics that speak to me 🤪
Thanks Laiba for your comment. For allowing me to express my vision of Aryan and Imlie. More to come soon.

As for 1. and 2. I'm absolutely and wholeheartedly invested in whatever direction you have taken them in and what you will come up with for them, and I meant that in regard to this story only. I can only fathom how draining it is to be writing so much, because two essays down and I realised that even procrastinating (while being super-invested in a ship) is not the escape from work I thought it was. The joke's on me 😆 So, no pressure, just keep doing it however you're comfortable!

Oooh, yes, the confrontation was always on the cards given the two couples are at crossroads again, and good going that we get to see Aryan's thought processes wrt a few things in that. Will get popcorn ready for whenever that happens!

Lastly, I feel like the rakshabandhan Aru really is more of a thing of the past, and a lot has conspired over the years for him to not be the person that he was all those years ago. As much as I love him, I still believe the timeline of this fic or even canon doesn't accommodate him, and for the story to move forward, it'd be how his character, with all his pieces, evolves through this. There might be glimpses of those pieces here and there, but time changes a whole lot in people and probably for the better because however adorable that Aru, this one's hands down HOT and I wouldn't change him for anything ;)

This was such a fun essay-conversation (same sentiments about that too, hehe), and equally pleased to be sharing thoughts over something that's probably consuming more of my brain space than I can afford.

I have more of a jumbled up version in my head where both canon and this fic are amalgamated, but yes, this is our little fan club right here.

Loads of love backatchu! 💗
