I am so damn proud of Zeenat, Asha and Waheeda for sporting white and grey hair, embracing their age and not wanting to colour their hair for magazine covers or TV show appearances.

I feel same for Nafisa who is simply adorable in the way she embraces her natural greys and wrinkles.

Earlier male stars like Ashok Kumar used to embrace their baldness or grey hair. But it was rare for women to appear with white hair in public.

Late Shashikala and late Maharani Gayatri Devi are others who sported white hair with confidence in public.

No botox. No hair transplant to look young.

I am happy Femina gave space to Jackie Shroff. He has iconic hits to his credit and superb performances like Parinda but he never got his due from media at all. I feel happy when I see him in interviews or mag covers now. Long awaited and well deserved recognition for Bhidu.

I hope we have more issues and coverage on role of Indian cinema in 75th year of India's independence.

Dharam is there.

Hema was actually a bigger BO star than Dharam and as a public figure she had more impact than him as she was producer, director, stage performer, editor, did TV, is an MP and more popular than him in comeback films and ad world.

Hema was #1 actress of 1970s. Whereas Dharmendra has always been one of biggest, consistent stars but never the clear #1 as he earlier got overshadowed by Rajesh Khanna and later by Amitabh.

Cover mentions are strange. Imagine not mentioning Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, Ashok Kumar (first ever actor to give ATBB and first actor to become highest paid star) but mentioning Jackie or Asha.

I hope justice is done to all icons. I dislike new trend of ignoring past icons just to focus on more media savvy, newer stars whose contribution otherwise would not be possible if seniors did not lay the foundation with their pioneering work.

I doubt if icons like Ashok Kumar, KL Saigal will even be mentioned if list is more focused on newer lot and even has Jeetendra (who I suspect would not be in the list if he did not become TV mogul through Balaji).

@Bold - They aren't mentioned because this issue features the living legends. However, I hope that the deceased legends are similarly honoured in a future issue...including the forgotten pioneers.

I agree with you on Jeetendra.
