Who stopped other stars from releasing films on festivals eh?

No replies when one asks what did Akshay Kumar do with Christmas release Tees Maar Khan. Too bad festival did not give superstar Akshay a blockbuster or record opening.

Not all Khans are clubbed together. Fardeen, Zayed, Ayub etc are Khans too. Everyone knows who the big names are when someone talks of Khans. No one else has been able to break their records so the frustration at them is understandable. 🤣

What are you saying, Madhuri Dixit was not a superstar, she was a nobody. Madhuri did not headline any blockbuster.

One look at the post and you will know people had not seen anybody's popularity in 90s because they were most probably not there.

But the most curious case is that people don't know much about Salman Khan's career yet just to prove their point they say Salman Khan was a superstar. In 90's Salman Khan had BO success but post 2000's he struggled a lot for a whole decade giving BO hits far and few, It was only after Dabang did he find success once more.

Joke of the century that Salman was not a superstar before 2000 despite MPK, HAHK - ATBBs, Saajan, Sanam Bewafa, Jeet, Biwi no1, Judwa, Pyar kiya toh darna kya, Karan Arjun, HDDCS, HSSH, Patthar ke Phool etc but SRK was superstar with Fauji itself or one solo hit Baazigar in 1993 itself. I wrote about Salman only in response to that user who claimed Salman was a nobody before Dabangg or the outrageous claim that Govinda was bigger star than Salman in 90s. Nowhere denied his bad phase in 2000s. Even in his bad phase he did manage hits like Tere Naam, Partner, MPKK and Wanted and never relied on his papa to make films to relaunch him.

I have lived through 90s to know which star was what.

Unlike others who deliberately prop up own favs and undermine others just to prove lies as truth and score some argument.

Anyway what to say to those who claimed flops like Chamatkar, Anjaam, Maya Memsaab are hits? Carry on.

I do think Deepika being Ranbir's ex is also a reason why people hate on Ranveer.

I do not know why people hate Deepika so much either. Maybe because of her exes or her political stance or her PR? But it does seem a lot of hate Ranveer gets nowadays is due to the hate people have for his wife.

for Deepika - it’s her PR - who in the process to hype DP, takes indirect digs at other actors. That’s the main reason afaik and also her double standards off screen at times.

Amitabh had RETIRED in 90s and only did flops like Lal Badshah, Kohram in late 90s when Salman, Aamir and SRK were giving ATBBs and HGOTY.

LOL at comparing Khans in 90s to Ayushman or Kartik who have never given an ATBB or HGOTY in first decade of their career unlike Khans who gave ATBBs and HGOTYs in 90s itself.

Salman gave ATBBs and HGOTYs in 90s itself. He was never like Akshay who never gave ATBB all life nor an HGOTY.

Govinda and Sunny were behind Khans in 90s. Never gave HGOTY except Sunny in 2001, 1997 and 1990 - Gadar, multi starrer Border and Ghayal. Even Ghayal was neck to neck with Dil in 1990 and both shared HGOTY spot.

Check BO sites before ranting.

I can understand the frustration as no other actor got such success in first 20 years of career after Khans.

Do not lose hope. Khans have proven one can give ATBBs after 40 also. So papa ka beta can still roshan his name and give an ATBB.

No propaganda can hide links of drugs in ex wife and ex BIL of Roshan puttar either. Linking Khans to underworld is a faltu argument brought by communal haters. Aamir and SRK particularly no criminal record or links to underworld.

Madhuri fizzled after 1995. SRK saved her with DTPH and Devdas, Salman helped her by joining her and SRK in Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam. Her last hits are Khan films. Cope.

This is the second or third time I am correcting you, Please don't say things I have never said. I never said Maya Memsaab or Anjaam were hits; other 5-6 films were BO success. I have also said Salman Khan had BO success but he was not a superstar because only BO success does not make a superstar, you also have to have popularity . Salman Khan had a dedicated fan base right through 90's but SRK's popularity easily outstripped that fanbase. The fact that people do not know movies like Chamatkar and Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman were BO success is proof enough of what I am saying. I have no dog in this fight for I am not a SRK fan or anybody's fan.

I do agree Deepika's PR goes overboard often.

When she was younger even she would at times go overboard in describing herself, her aims.

I mean when she did CCTC, she said she would like to believe she is next female Akshay Kumar.

I think it was naive to call herself female Akshay Kumar just after doing stunts in one film as a newbie.

She seems to be a highly competitive and ambitious woman and sometimes comes across as indulging in excessive self praise.

But of late Deepika gets more hate due to her political stance and her old interviews hinting at an ex. RK fanbase seems to hate the couple.

I do not want to divert this thread further. Posts of some other hater are getting mixed up here and adding to confusion.

As for popularity, Salman was always popular and had fan following from day one even as a model. His posters sold like hot cakes and he made body building trend popular among masses. He also became famous for his style and fashion sense. Even Hrithik cited him as his inspiration for body building.

I can understand if people say Aamir had less fan following. But Salman was neck to neck with SRK in 90s. And definitely more popular than SRK before 1995 because he had successes of MPK, HAHK, Saajan etc behind him.

Prior to Salman, Hindi film heroes had no fashion sense at all nor focused on having specific looks, dress or accessories. In terms of body and fitness it was only Sanjay Dutt who took care of his fitness and flaunted physique before Salman. He soon went to jail and ruined self in drugs, so his popularity did not last long. It was Salman who filled vacuum of a fashionable, stylish hero with good body and he was always famous for his looks which is why he was voted as 7th most good looking man in the world sometime in late 90s itself. He used to win all most handsome and most stylish awards from MTV Style Awards and online/print mag polls. So it is incorrect to say he had no popularity.

As for superstardom, yes it is BO that makes superstars. And no one gets BO success if they have no popularity at all.

I don't think 83 is a disaster, nor is it a universally panned film.

It has had to contend with Omicron surge and Spiderman No Way Home.

Her problem is that she wasted a lot of her years doing nothing and now everyone has largely moved on to Alia and company. She probably wanted a break after those 3 years of non-stop films, so it is understandable. But now that the success bandwagon has moved on to others, it looks like people disproportionately hate her, but I don't think it is any different from earlier.
