I love how nepotism is literally engrained in politics and business but yes, let's just vilify Bollywood. The same people chanting nepotism won't blink twice before taking advantage of getting a job through connections 😂
Nepotism is everywhere. In every field be it agriculture, academia, judiciary, media, journalism, music, art, govt jobs, politics and business.
Yet people pretend it is only in Bollywood. Amusingly they praise South over Bollywood forgetting the nepotism in regional film industries.
Nepotism is only raked up to target Gandhis, Lalu family and Mulayam family. BJP was quiet at nepotism in Badal family and Thackeray family when it was in alliance with Akali Dal and Shiv sena. They are quiet at family members part of BJP also. Deols being in BJP is not nepotism. The celebs who do not attend parliament, know zilch about issues, do not visit their constituencies are BJP MPs purely on merit. LMAO!
These days nepotism is way to attack celebs who are seen as something agsinst ideology of ruling party. Hence all attacks aimed at Kapoors, Pataudis, Khans, Padukones, Bhatts, Akhtars, Bachchans etc while Devgans, Kumar family, Deols, Khers, Rawals, Sunil Shetty etc are spared.
In real life everyone uses connections and relatives to not just get jobs but also property deals, housing, accommodation, customers, clients, favours at school, college or admissions in institutions of own choice.
Even ones with no background or connections clamour to network, make connections. Akshay was grinning ear to ear at being son in law of Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia and often spoke of it as matter of personal achievement. Even so called anti nepotism queen Kangana wanted to attach herself to film families which explains her affair with Ajay and her obsession with Hrithik. She has her own sister as her manager and did not hire an outsider to be her manager, publicist etc. Says a lot about her stand against nepotism.
In this sense I appreciate SRK for being practical and not blaming nepotism or whining about dynasties. He rather proved his worth and beat many star kids. Same for Rajinikanth, Rajesh Khanna, Mithun, Dharmendra, Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar, Vinod Khanna, Jeetendra etc who made their own mark without whining about dynasties.
Dynasties and nepotism cannot deter good actors from shining. Nor make a bad one shine.
All those who complain about star kids shining due to multiple chances they get, should first tell about admissions, preferences they got using their connections. Only a truly poor son of a beggar can claim he had no use of his family's name.
