Tolerable Tempers.
The room drowned in silence on the near cold midnight. Raavi had almost finished her chores and sunk back to the bed, the days were turning hectic and the nights a little tiring. She had noticed the weight bearing on the shoulders after a long while. Somnath had its heat and its cold, the winters were nearly a little more demanding than the summers. At least for her, she was prone to the crisp bites from the night winds but it urged her to look for some warmness at the same time. She sighed, ready to drop at the slight glide over the bed, however, she had to wait for a while. Yes she had to! Her eyes shifted to the shopping bags that were still left unopened, she almost let out a groan. She had to fix them up before she dwelled into deep slumber. She lazily pulled the number of bags towards her. She undid the packets and pulled out the set of dresses Rishita and Raavi brought in the morning; she reddened as she thought of the mess they created in the textile shop. The bargain went a little over the top, especially on a certain subject that pops the living day light out of people. She shook her head and went back to the final job of the night.
Raavi folded the clothes neatly. Her smile grew vividly as she held the piece of crepe pink, spaghetti strapped kurti that had an open silt from the midline. The color attracted her attention, the moment she laid her eyes on the top she knew she was invested. She had a fight with Rishita too for the top, but Raavi wasn't too much a of noble soul to let go of the dress that captured intentness. She carried them over to the almirah and placed them orderly. Her vision dilated at the sight of the extra neatness around the rack, the rack was a mess when she noted the previous time. When did this mess clear up? She wondered as she closed its door, surprised out of the blue.
"This is such a headache, I'm not having that baingan ever again." She heard her husband complain, the sound of the latch made her turn to his direction. Shiva looked all sweaty and disheveled, his ash colored vest were stuck on to his body, the black track pants were however the same as she saw them in the evening. Shiva's hair was a bit shabby, adding the needed component to complete his grumpy expression. Raavi resisted her chortle, she knew her stubborn husband would rattle her annoyed if she chuckled about his situation. It was worth all the strength after all. Only Shiva and Rishita had the power to cut each other off, Raavi had a sadist pleasure when it came to watching them pull each other's hair till they surrendered defeat. Rishita was probably the only person to shut Shiva up without any place for argument. With Raavi, he had an entire different story. Raavi, on the very other hand, loved to watch irritation spice up Rishita's tongue with Shiva's nuisance. Rishita had to have a knowledge about who Raavi was tolerating for a husband, the task was massive.
"Aww. Rishita gave you that baingan again?" Raavi feigned concern. It was the sole duty of a soulful wife! Shiva loved it when she turned sugary, coddling his existence with pampering and cuddles. He loved rolling his eyes at her, giving the teddy bear feels and levitating her to the two fiftieth heaven. She held a fondness for a sweaty Shiva too, the odor pulled her closer to him, so close that even the moon felt distant from the face of this planet.
"Shut it chipkali, this started because of you! I can't believe you escaped this shit." Shiva glared at his crazy wife, the complain came off as a rant. Shiva couldn't believe it! How did she smartly escape the crap? He scrunched his brows and prodded at her form. Tongue in cheek, resisting a laugh and of course! The so damn silly glint in her eyes. This was a well planned trap!
"It was you, right? You made this crappy plan?"
Raavi giggled. The tube light that she was! She growled at her own doltishness in the immediate second. She bit her lips, moving a few strands of hair behind from her shoulders. Something struck her mind in that instance. She did not change her top from the morning! She was clad on her night palazzo and her morning churidar top. Did her husband have no eyes? Couldn't he remind her to change her clothes? She rolled her eyes. Opening the cupboard, she picked one of the tops that she wore at night. It was a sleeveless sea green top that matched with her pants. She was sure that Shiva would snicker about her finicky tendencies in the mid of the night. She held the hem of her top and pulled it in quick move.
"What? Did you not compare my baingan with her baingan? So made you eat hers." She said as she wore the top that she picked freshly. Shiva rolled his eyes. Did she know what he went through? He almost threw up. Admitted that he shouldn't have made a comparison in the first place but this was Chipkali here, how did she think he would mange without pulling her leg?
"Stop rolling you eyes Shiva. You pulled my leg, I pulled yours. We are even." She stated as she tossed her churidar top into the laundry bucket.
"One of these days, I'll end up swallowing some poison and you will say we are even!" Shiva grumped. Raavi turned to him with a sarcastic smile.
"Ironically, your name is Shiva. Poison can do nothing to you."
"Not when your Gauri is here." She sat beside him on the edge of the bed and pulled his cheek. To that, Shiv fritted multifold. This woman! She has mastered in the art of raising his hackles. Shiva rubbed his cheek, snaring at her antics. She was not cute to him today, she seemed like a python ready to gobble him up the moment she got her chance.
"And please, stay away from me. Your sweat stenches."
Shiva narrowed his brows. Oh really? Did she think he would have a long shower after listening to her accusation? Shiva trapped Raavi between his arms and tightened his hold. If he stunk of sweat, then she deserved to get his share of love. He was giver, he gave everything with utmost love and patience. It was all meant for Raavi!
Raavi yelped in his tight hold, she gritted and mumbled a few nothings, feeling agitated at his silly action. She glared at his snickering form. The dimwit husband that she had! She tried her best to push his arms away. "Shiva! Leave me. You stink."
"You keep saying that, I'll keep tightening my hold."
Raavi kept fishing under his grasp. The man ate the same stuff that she ate but when it came to showing his strength, Raavi felt like a rat trapped under the feet of an elephant. One squeeze and Raavi would end up being a finished game. She hated his tendency of showing the utmost strength in their fights. He didn't deserve to win so easily. Silly Pandya! Stupid Pandya! Idiot Pandya! Monkey Pandya! What more cusses were left? Her mind dug the dictionary of bashing indictments.
"Shiva leave me, you fool! I'm suffocating."
"You won't die easily, don't worry. I know how to give a CPR."
Argh! This man!
"There's no place for honesty! I stated the truth. You stink...ouch!" Raavi felt the hold unyielding. Was this man some incarnation of a stone? Freaking hell!
"You are the one to speak? You took me in my sweaty form in the damn store room of the store, remember?"
Raavi flustered amidst their bicker. She wanted to smack the Raavi that was euphoric about the idea of jamming with him in the middle of the store room, that too in Pandya Store! Kaka had almost caught them. Had Shiva not hid them behind the pile of dusty sacks, they would have turned into a laughing stock for the rest of their lives. Kaka would have been scarred for his life. How the hell did she readily swipe protected seeds with a sweaty Shiva? God knows what was she high on!
The damn hormones!
Her inner voice came in defense of her husband. Raavi groaned in annoyance.
"I was in my mood. That, just happened. Leave me you idiot!"
"What am I? Some yada yada stuff? You have mood you swap your spit with me and when you don.."
"Okay fine! I accept defeat!"
Shiva always had his way! She stared at his smirking face. The gross stuff that he spoke! She breathed hard the moment he let go of her. She despised his skills of blabbering without a filter. He loved irking her out! She glared grunting over that victory etching grin. Definitely worth the night! She rolled her eyes, pissed beyond any verbal articulation.
He deserved the baingan! She thought in her head. He would pull out some atrocious stunt if she said it aloud. A fire dragon for a husband, she fizzed. Stomping her food grumpily, she veered to the chair and sat over it. She scrunched her face as she watched him roll over to his side of the bed, the side that supposedly belonged to hers a few days ago. The crack head bargained it at the cost of the....hickey that she gave him. She grabbed a magazine from the tea table roughly and began flipping through the pages.
"Idiot. Stupid. Monkey." She muttered as she randomly rolled from one page to another. He took her side of the bed, blackmailing her about exposing the mark she had given him. It was purplish, deep and of course clearly evident to the world if he dared to show it. He would. He loved challenging her. Though not giving up on Raavi, he would have aced in the period of keeping her in oscillation and then, he would have given some random excuses which Dev, Rishita, Dhara and Gautam would never buy. They knew the basics of everything! Raavi was better being trapped in his net than turn red in front of them.
"Don't come running to me for cuddles. Keep two feet distance." Shiva stated from the bed. Raavi narrowed her brows. He was playing with her weakness! She never did that when they fought. She had always let him stick towards her. Duh! He couldn't stay a bit away from her. Did he forget his artistic skills of making her struggle in the morning just to fish out from the bed? He never stopped hugging her till she screamed near his ears. She could very well stay without cuddling, it was difficult but she had much stronger self control than Shiva Pandya. She was dead sure that Shiva would never be able to say the same. She was ready to see the extent of his restrain.
"Huh, I take that back." Shiva stated.
Raavi smirked, he was after all the most obvious person to her. She silently took the credit, without a percentage of doubt; how would Shiva resist Somnath's most beautiful lady? Never. Zilch.
"Brace yourself Shiva. I'm not giving you any cuddles." It was Raavi's turn to level up the game. The change in Shiva's expression made her flutter internally. She loved squeezing the lemonades out of her darling husband. He got up from the bed and stared into her direction, feeling grumpy already. Poor Shiva, should have thought about the consequences before he decided to mess with her sanity.
"You are not doing that." He ordered.
"Huh, what?" Raavi scoffed.
Shiva visibly gritted. Good. Now she was going to give him a tough time. He had the ability to lift her up and tie her to the bed if she had any idea. The fault was Shiva's, he shouldn't have brought their cuddles in between; now that he did, he had to face the imprecated consequences. But he could lift her anyways, the devil side of him stimulated him. No, she would take her blanket and run to Suman's room. She would simply say "I'm feeling home sick", his mother would happily pat her to sleep and Shiva would turn sleepless. This woman!
"Stop irritating me Raavi."
"I irritated you? You think so? Rewind and think."
"You did not let me kiss you in the kitchen." Shiva protested.
"And you made a comment on my cooking?" She jutted. Their arguments were turning pointless now.
"Your cooking? Our cooking! I was mixing the veggies. Don't take the credit to yourselves."
Raavi rolled her eyes. He was turning more childish with the passage of time, she deserved a crown for managing him.
"Ok my parmeshwar, OUR cooking. You do not have the rights to comment on the cooking. It had a part of my hardwork!"
Raavi grunted when Shiva's eyes glinted effervescently. What was he up to? That expression meant no good. He was either going to foil her sanity or he was planning something in the short period of time. Nothing about that seemed pious.
"Look, we cooked. When I commented on the food, I commented on me too."
Raavi opened her mouth widely. That had zipped up the points she had in her head. He was using too much of that brain. No matter how much she loved his wits, she hated it when it came to their fusses; he always got away facilely.
"You think I'll turn into the Dobi that you call me always this time?"
"Arrey, you are not a Dobi, you are my Chipkali." Shiva smiled as he said that.
Very smooth. Butter on the marbled floor, high with viscosity, easy enough to slip. But she was not going to fall for it, she wanted to be ahead this time.
"Sorry, I'm not going to let that buy me. I'm Somnath's most beautiful ladki. Too expensive for you today." She grinned cheekily.
Shiva hid his smirk, she was levelheaded today, nothing was going to stop her. She looked so kissable with that vanquishing beam. Shiva ruffled his hair, he loved it when she played with him, especially when she lead the game on. Everything about that had his heart drumming.
"Want me to beg you?" Shiva raised his brows. He put the blame on his tired muscles, he was on over work today. He refused Gautam's suggestion of taking rest, he was clearly in the mood of working. He never in his wildest dreams, had an idea that he would sink into this. He wanted sleep and for that, he needed her beside him.
Raavi focused on his tired droop of shoulders. She knew why he gave up. She wanted to pull his legs further but she couldn't just play with his fatigued form. There was always a tomorrow, she was not going to leave him easily. But for today, she was happy with his question, she reduced him to that in the nick of time; she would write that in her diary and register it in her mind.
"Nope, I want my side of the bed." Raavi switched off the lights and walked to their bed.
"Not if I roll you over in the night." Shiva propounded.
"As if you don't do that." She stated as she laid beside him. Shiva gave her the side that she needed. He was too exhausted, Raavi came into a conclusion. She crawled her hands around his neck, nuzzling her face on the line between his shoulder and his neck. It was quite hypocritical of her, she asked him to keep his sweaty self away from Raavi and here she was, sticking over him like the lizard that he called her. She smiled sheepishly, it grew wider when his hands tightened around her waist. The pale light from outside beamed over them.
"By the way, you and Rishita bargained over a bralette?" Shiva husked down his voice, teasing her in his tone nevertheless. Raavi's eyes grew wide, she popped up to peek at him from his chest. Her mouth went wide while she looked no less than a shocked cat. Shiva endured his chuckle and swallowed it down.
"How do you know?" She was thankful for the darkness, she was sure her cheeks flooded in the color of the garment she bargained over. Shiva pulled the blanket over them and pecked her pouted lips slightly, his eyes focused on her lips for a while and then over her hazel eyes.
"I have a brother you know. He says wrong things about his argument with his wife at the wrong time."
Raavi groaned at the grossness. Rishita was such an idiot, so was her husband!
"And you heard that in a high?"
"Duh, I was grossed initially but the idea of you buying a bralette simply caught my attention."
A flush rushed through her face, she would have been surprised if he did not respond that way but then, Raavi rolled her eyes. His corrupt smirk blazed through the pale light. He was a bizarre with the wildness he carried. It gripped her just the way it flustered her. She thwacked him and mumbled a "Pervert!"
"What? What can I do if that gave me ideas? I imagined my wife, not Kanta Kaaki."
"Eww Shiva. Stop!" Raavi hit him hard, Shiva chuckled at her scrunched face.
"By the way, Kanta Kaaki is so grumpy now a days. She was complaining about the rise in the price of tomatoes. I guess her husband is not giving her a good time...she should know only tomatoes can't give him the stami..." Raavi pressed her hand over his mouth. She glowered at the glister emanating from his eyes.
"I don't want to know about Kanta Kaaki's bed time stories. Chi Shiva! Have some shame!"
Shiva pulled her hand away and grinned wider, much to Raavi's annoyance.
"Chi Raavi! How do you manage to think like that? I meant stamina for his body. Tomatoes are not enough, he needs some baingan and karela too. Yuck. You have such a one track mind!"
Raavi was dumbfounded. She opened her mouth to produce some words in her defense, she remained fluttering like a fish in water. She did not understand what Shiva got by meddling with senses like that! The thought of Kanta Kaaki turned grotty, it was in fact gut churning. Thanks to him, she was going to run away from Kanta Kaaki for a few days.
"Shut up Shiva! Stop irritating me. I'm sleepy." She placed her face on his chest and turned her face to the other end. She gave in to him shamelessly as he pushed a few strands of her hair away. She nuzzled on to him, blinking at his soothing actions, she was not going to deny the way she felt when he patted her to sleep. Cozy, warm and comfortable. If given the chance, she was ready to remain lazed up over him whole day long; Shiva wouldn't mind her burden. He was in fact more bolshie when it came sleeping with her beside.
"Not before you tell me the color of the stuff you brought."
"What's the point? You will rip it apart anyways." She muttered, blinking into her sleep.
Shiva threw a surprised smirk. Was she speaking from her sane mind? He peeped in to notice her drowse driven face. His grin stretched profoundly, it was days like these that brought the truth from her mouth.
"Is it red?" Shiva already knew she was sick of wearing black for him all the time. The next colour that came to his mind was red. Raavi would look sexy in them. Well she looked sexy in everything.
But that was not his point.
"Yes." She mumbled, gripping his vest tightly. Shiva's evil smile brightened his face in brilliant colours. He wanted more from her sleep babbling.
"Tell me that you gape at my shirtless form. You love it don't you?" Shiva thought about the number of times she denied the fact in front of his face. He was going to use this against her.
"Hmmm."
Shiva smirked. Their tolerable temper has lead her to accept a big truth in her sleepy state. It was an accomplishment.

Raavi drank tea from her cup, concentrating on the game of ludo, waiting for her turn patiently. Luckily, Raavi was ahead of Dhara, Krish and Rishita in the game. Their constant mumblings were ignored by her high spirit. She noticed Shiva nodding his head impossibly at her on random intervals. He was busy talking about something with Gautam and Dev, probably about the store and the stocks.
Suman on the other hand, was busy talking with Kanta. Raavi smiled at Kanta and welcomed her in the morning, forgetting about all the rubbish Shiva spewed the previous night. She really forgot until Kanta herself reminded Raavi of the same.
"The cost of tomatoes have raised drastically."
And to that, Raavi splattered the tea from her mouth over the table; shocking everybody around in the house, well, except for Shiva. Krish jumped back groaning at the spoilage of the Ludo board. His concern hung on to Raavi as she started coughing. Raavi couldn't stop.
She kept coughing, attracting a surmount concern from Dhara, Rishita and Krish. Her noticed skipped to a smirking Shiva.
"Arrey Raavi, you should have been careful." She heard Gautam.
"Haan Raavi, be careful." Shiva came forward, faking a concern, rubbing her back, eyeing her evilly, tongue in cheek. Raavi threatened him with her glare. She didn't have a tolerable temper today!
