Don't know about other countries, but in India, because it's defined in narrow biological terms, rape perpetrated by females isn't legally considered rape. Consent plays very little part in the legal definition. Gul could have taken a very progressive stance here. Regarding Aditya's denial of it— it's common even amongst women let alone men who don't live with the constant fear of sexual assault. I don't blame him for that

What was very shitty was deleting the video and actively making excuses for Malini even if he didn't consider it rape. It was sexual cheating. Because he considers it that, he'd no right to impose the baby on Imlie without her consent. He doesn't take her opinions seriously at all. He treats her as a petulant child which makes the power equation very abusive.

Abortion can't be shown on ITV because aunties consider it characterless or whatever. But abortion is a right and can be availed on all conditions barring one, in India. Here, toh Malini has weaponised it, but even the Tripathis try to dissuade her from it without any consideration for her future (because they think of her a good person), or even the baby's future.
