SRK was a nobody and a newcomer then. How did he save YRF? YRF had hits like Chandni, Yeh Dillagi under their belt in 90s without SRK. They earlier had hits like Deewar, Daag, Trishul, Kabhi Kabhi, Noorie etc and were a mega banner from times when SRK was just a kid.

Rather YRF and Dharma saved him otherwise he was giving many flops like English Babu Desi mem, Oh Darling yeh hai India, Anjaam, Chaahat or doing vulgar films like Maya Memsaab.

YRF was saved by Aditya Chopra taking over the reins and reinventing their style of filmmaking, scripts and marketing of their films.

Same as young Sooraj Barjatya taking over reins of Rajshri.

Yash Chopra kept making old style of films and often kept casting same old actors like Rajesh Khanna, Hema etc in films like Vijay. His biggest flop.

The man did not change with times. Aditya Chopra taking over YRF changed its fortunes. SRK just happened to come by.

Otherwise we know what SRK was doing without YRF and Dharma giving flops like Chaahat, Trimurti, English babu desi mem, Oh darling yeh hai India or average grossers like Ram Jaane or Badshah. Or relied on multi starrers like Karan Arjun.

Even in 2000s he failed with Swades and was averagely successful in Chalte Chalte. Again went back to Dharma and YRF to give him bigger hits. OSO is his only huge grosser in 2000s outside YRF, Dharma.

SRK is still giving flops or underperformers whereas YRF has given big hits without him such as Dhoom 3, Tiger series with Salman, and smaller hits such as Band Baja Baraat, Bachna Ae Haseeno etc with younger stars. Rather SRK depended on YRF for face saving in form of JTHJ after underperformer Ra One.

BTW no one went to watch Darr for SRK. Sunny was top star after Ghayal and had recently won National award for Ghayal. Juhi was rising through successes like Swarg, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar ke etc. What makes you think people went to watch Darr for SRK who was an unknown newcomer then? SRK did not have it in him to draw openings then. Darr is purely a YRF-Sunny-Juhi hit in which SRK turned out to be surprise package and got admired as a villain.

If he was such a star he would not give a flop like Anjaam with Madhuri and NO other big hero next year after Darr.

1) Missing Superhit Noorie & Hit Yeh Dillagi.

2) Chandni, Kala Pathar & Aaina were all big hits.

3) Nobody went to watch Darr for Shahrukh Khan. Sunny Deol was the biggest star at the time post Ghayal.

SRK is one of the most loved stars to ever grace the Indian celluloid. Do not insult him by posting fake stats & false narratives. He doesn't need it.

This is laughable by any stretch of imagination as to how come a newcomer who was a year into films save a PH which was established for almost 2 decades.

Chandni was a hit.

Chandni and Lamhe were blockbusters oversees.

Darr was headlined by Sunny who was a huge star in the 90s bigger than the ones actively working today.Juhi herself was a big star.

You can make a case for the opposite like YRF bailed him out with DTPH when he had a string of flops post DDLJ.
