2000s music is more experimental because films were also more experimental then.

But the way all versatile composers and singers of 90s have been ignored conveniently it seems the intention is to cock a snoot at decade in which a fav singer was only known as duplicate for Rafi in T series cassettes and a TV anchor of a singing reality show.

Despite all the limitations in content, just see the kind of music they gave. No support of subject, all new faces on screen and still the albums are such hits that you still hear those songs today.

There were certain films which were ahead of its time back then. Gupt is one major example and Viju Shah did a fabulous job with the songs and score. Anjaam is another that comes to my mind, the film itself send shudders down my spine but what songs Anand-Milind composed. Khamoshi The Musical wasn't a typical romantic film and Jatin-Lalit really outdid themselves with that one.

One director whom I'd like to mention is Pankuj Parashar. All his films usually had that Westernised feel. Again, I might be called an Anand-Milind pankhee, but the background score of all the films they did with PP was whack, just like the film. They did quite a few very Westernised numbers despite the lack of technology at the time. It was still their learning stage but you can see the potential.

The only one doing bhakti here is you who made this thread solely to promote Sonu and degrade other iconic singers and composers.

You are taking as if Sonu sounds different in each song.

Whereas his voice remains same no matter who he mimics.

For us singers are just singers. Not a religion unlike Sonuism for someone else here.

Acha beta? Tumne Sonu ke naam ki kitni bhakti ki hai, humko pata hai.

Ab ek singer ko defend kar rahe hai toh hum religion bana rahe hai?

Sahi hai.

It is a FACT. On tea stalls, radio stations, at dhabas, trucks, music of 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s is way more popular with masses than music post 2000s. Regional music has also been more popular than Bollywood music post 2000s/2010s.

Masses such as your local building's watchman, tea stall owner, roadside dhabas do not connect much to latest music the way they connect to yesteryear music.

no one listen to 90s these days not even 8 years back when i was in university , when ever i used to play those dholak tabla songs people used to say stop it yaar ....90 is a part of nostalgia for 90s kids.. and there was no debate related to why chai wala or bus wala listen 90 songs and a comman man doesnt ...from where u are getting such wired ideas 🥱 what i have to do with a truck driver to say

I had actually asked a few of them why the 50s-90s playlist.

They said "jo samajhta hai madame, vohi sunenge". And ab naye gaane mein they listen to Himesh's new songs from his new label.

Its very easy to say that the 90s were shitty. The fact remains those songs have unprecedented popularity and still have huge fanbase.
