Akshara always impressed me with her skills whether it's singing or riding a bike😉
Even she always thinks about her family she is not self obsessed like Arohi.

Even she always thinks about her family she is not self obsessed like Arohi.
And for God sake,
Riding a bike is not equivalent to empowerment or strength. It's just another every day normal thing. Stop glorifying unnecessary things. 😆
Riding a bike is not but telling a guy off for saying he doesn’t sit behind girls is what I like to see.
(I think in india riding on bikes is so normal. I grew up outside india where it is considered more dangerous, so I would love to ride on a Harley rather than a car, so I think it cool 🤣🤣)
See being intelligent and educated are two different things.. arohi is educated whereas akshu is intelligent, street smart, quick witted girl. She knows how and when of situations. Arohi is the narcissistic, broody person who's putting everything good abt her behind rude behaviour. She may be good but only for herself😆.
Lekin ye akshara is dodo na... She is encouraging arohi's manmarziyan to the extent of turning evil. Both the sisters have impact of childhood trauma. One has turned people pleaser, the other has become manipulative. Both are hurting themselves and people around them. I find major fault with both the girls..To some extent kairav too.

You are digressing. My point was addressed because you kept repeating, may I remind you, in capslock SHE RIDES A BIKE.
It is just that reinforcing stereotypes like girl riding bike is cool falls into the same trope of "best woman is the one who can take so much suffering" perpetuated by patriarchal societies so they can justify gender oppression.
The one thing I hate most is two women being compared based on societal expectations. Let them do whatever they want as long as they are not hurting anyone else. (Which is the only issue I have with Arohi and doesn't stem from the fact whether she is an ideal girl or not)
I ride a bike and cute is not a word that is associated with me at all. But in general men has the tendency to tell me stuff like, you should learn to ride a bike, it will suit your personality. I get super annoyed because I don't want to be put into a freaking box!
Again, you are missing the point. You think Akshara a girl riding the bike is cool, which you used as a point to post a set of arguments comparing her with Arohi who can't ride a bike. I don't think Akshara is better than Arohi because she can ride a freaking bike. They are just preferences especially for girls like them who are literally born with a silver spoon and everything offered to them on a silver platter.
Riding bike may be cool according to you. Your fascination with bikes also I understand but why bring a gender angle to it at all? I don't see anyone praising men for riding bikes.
PS: Do not read this in a hostile tone. Not my intention at all. But I am really frustrated with women reinforcing gender stereotypes when we are constantly trying to break the same shackles on a daily basis. I am also aware that this is a forum to discuss stupid ITV show, and not space for an intellectual debate. But yeah, here you have it. I hope you get my point.
Tagging few people here who I might think agree with me here. Not entirely sure. And if you have disagreements, please go ahead bash me also. 😆
👏👏👏 not 100% but I do agree with your pov
I honestly think this discussion comparing Arohi and Akshara is ridiculous.
Because it's literal ITV trope. Smart, competent ambitious woman will always be put down in favour of the selfless, simple and more traditional woman.
So, I would just look at them only with respect to their actions and none of their characteristics. Like I dislike Arohi because she is vile and I like Akshara because she hasn't really done anything to warrant any kind of hatred.
Because they have already created the binary of Akshara v/s Arohi. There is no scope for deeper analysis here
Since it seems you would like to have a true debate, let me take each response of yours and try to give a serious response back.
I have compared Arohi and Akshu because that is what the serial wants us to do and spends a lot of time doing itself. That’s not just ITV, it’s also other TV and let’s be honest real life as well. Anyway who says this is not happening in real life is fooling themselves.
In this response you say smart and competent will always be put down in favour of simple and more traditional woman. Who is the simple and more traditional woman you have in mind for this sentence?
I think YOU are missing the point I am trying to make in my posts. I am looking at their actions and saying that I do not find Arohi smart or cool. I find Akshara cool. Not always but definitely on the whole.
Given this is a series and things may change based on the whim of the writers I may be cursing some action if her tomorrow. 🤣🤣

The point you made in your response is that riding a bike is not equal to empowerment. That is what I responded to.
I can’t argue with a lot of what you say here because I don’t live in India and only visit on holiday. But the india you portray in your post where a woman riding bikes and having full freedom is not breaking stereotypes or bejng cool and different form what is imposed on her by society is not one I recognise from my visits. But as I said I don’t live there.
And riding a bike is just one of the points I raise. I listed a whole load of things that show that actually Akshara is in her actions someone that doesn’t fit any stereotype and is cool. While Arohi talks big but does nothing.
Here I am comparing them again. But I have to (and want to) because they are the two opposing female characters that this serial I am watching has for my riled up about 🤣!
(Btw not bashing - just responding at length because you seem to be interested in making a serious point)

Akshara is the simple and traditional girl, I am referring to. Because that's how she was introduced (first few episodes itself Abhi talks about simple hona hi mushkil hai). Now character growth is happening on a daily basis in the show. So I don't deny that Akshara has more substance. But let's just consider the not so flushed out idea of Akshara.
Akshara is sweet, not ambitious, will put herself into suffering so that others can be happy v/s Arohi who is super ambitious and a bit selfish. It wouldn't matter who becomes the lead at this point. This is the ITV trope I am talking about.
They will only flush this out to make Akshara better and better and Arohi the worse. That's the whole binary they are creating. They wouldn't even think of the opposite.
Nobody, not even me argues Arohi is smart and cool. How can I do that when the writers/makers haven't even put that choice in front of audience.
They literally showed us one is good and smart, and the other is selfish and vile. The first episode when they were introduced itself Akshara was wearing white and Arohi black. From there onwards they have been progressing the same way.
So when you are presented something that EXPLICITLY STATES A is better than B. What is the point even in discussing I think A is better than B because of so and so.
You are digressing. My point was addressed because you kept repeating, may I remind you, in capslock SHE RIDES A BIKE.

You got me on your side.
I completely agree with your argument.
I personally feel that unlike the personality with which Akshu is portrayed in the serial, she is feisty and cool. And not just because she can ride a bike. She is like a sleeping Sherni to me who knows how to act according to the situation. She is mature in that way. And she puts her family before herself and her happiness. She is emotional too. But she is also this clueless childish girl who is clumsy and easily excited by everything. She is a mix of completely opposite characters which comes out as the situation requires. That is what makes her my favorite.
As for Aarohi, she has the stubbornness of the youngest of the family. She is really smart and very level headed and knows what she wants and works for it. But her judgement towards Akshara is clouded by the hatred that settled in her mind since childhood. I really feel that Aaru hates Akshu not because Sirat died trying to get her but because Sirat left her hand to go to Akshu. She has felt that she is second to Akshu since childhood and for that I blame Sirat and Goenkas. Because a child will not understand the complex reasons behind her sibling being given more affection than her. She felt like she came second to Akshu. And after the Naira revelation, she felt that her mom came second to Akshu's mom. All of this made her competitive and obsessed with getting what she wants.
But Aarohi still hasn't done anything unforgivable though I am one of the people who keep taking out the frustration on her. She likes a guy and he likes Akshu which just triggered her belief that everyone chooses Akshu over her and she got angry. That's what Aarohi Goenka does. She gets angry and starts yelling at Akshara. It's not fair on her part but by doing that, she is only being human.
The Tilak drama was not her fault.
The Birlas assuming stuff wasn't her fault. She didn't correct Abhi but in her defense, he hung up before she could say anything and then her wheels started turning.
The mandhir galat Femi was also not her fault.
Other than her Abhimanyu obsession and hatred towards Akshu, Aaru is a pretty decent character. She is affectionate and respectful towards the rest of the family. She passed the test Harsh had for her with flying colors because she is a decent doctor. She is practical. And in those two episodes of the sisters being affectionate, there really was love between them.
I feel that her hatred and anger is just her sadness and helplessness.
Unless the story goes the Icche noode way ofcourse, because then she is gonna be Mega vamp. But right now, she isn't a vamp.

I knew it would come back to 'riding the bike' is only one of the points you have raised. I clearly addressed having this entire comparison is ridiculous. As I mentioned in earlier post, I pointed it out only because you gave it so much importance to that fact posting it in caps, as if it some huge achievement.
Now coming to breaking stereotypes with respect to riding bikes. I don't want to go into deep because I will have to bring a lot intersectionality here that cut across class and caste in India. And now, two young uber privileged girls who are born into one of the richest and progressive family who has access to almost everything in life materialistically can do whatever they want. One choosing to ride a bike and the other chosing not to when they clearly have no barriers to break doesn’t make one cool and the other uncool.
