Her current behavior aside, Imlie does have a natural affinity to journalism and the same idealistic pull that BBSB has; But right now what she is really looking for, from this internship is not an opportunity to learn true journalism but a means to survive. Even though like BBSB, she doesn't think much about the tasks she worked on, she justifies herself saying "koi kaam chota bada nai hota", "kisi ko toh kaam karna hoga" etc., Her basic attitude is make the best of whatever is thrown at you. And while she is operating in fear, she treats BBSB as her equal and preaches him about his "galti" of not working on the tasked assignment.

But under the tutelage of ASR, they are showing that reporting is an easy task that Imlie can perform without the needed qualifications and mentorship of field experts like Aditya/Editor saab. And baki tho there no dearth of people to inflate her ego. If BBSB points out this is not how it generally happens, he is jealous of her "professional" success. And someday he will realize his galti and apologize🤢

What she wants to hear from people around her is not criticism but the excessive praise that she is achieving things without any support of people around her. And BBSB refuses to praise her for doing well in tasks he thinks she should not be doing at all😆

Adi has never pandered to anyone - including Malini, as people like to think. Even when Malini talks rubbish, he has given it to her back saying that he doesn't agree with what she is saying. Even in the recent situation where he questioned Imlie, when Malini accused Imlie, he categorically told her that Imlie would never do such a thing that Malini is accusing her of doing - his contention still is that Malini misunderstood and that SK could be the one who shot Malini and Imlie is protecting him - which while being wrong and stupid, still is in line with his character's POV.

So this guy who prides on the fact that he has built his reputation as a serious reporter based on his principled approach cannot see his wife (no matter what is the actual status of their relationship) pander to someone (even him) and be put in a situation, where people will doubt her capabilities seeing how she has had a mercurial rise thanks to her new friend. Aaj yeh cheez Malini ko dikha, kal baaki sab bhi yehi baat bolenge, in a more derogatory fashion. Adi is trying to make her understand that while ASR's actions looks good, his intentions do not seem to match - which today made Imlie think as well for a split second, before ASR brainwashed to believe that she is here only due to her capabilities and not because he has an agenda. It reminded me of when Adi used to question Malini after being shown proof of her manipulation, and Malini saying something that will assure Adi that he misunderstood her again.

It is so funny that both husband and wife have someone in their life who has understood their weak point enough to manipulate them to suit their needs. Saath saal ka rishta and having a mom like AC has trained Malini to use guilt and Adi's shareef nature to make sure he never sees beyond the facade she has presented to him all this while, on the other hand, Imlie interaction with himself and with Adi has given insight to ASR who is also intelligent enough to figure out that Imlie's hyper-independence and need for praise is a tool to manipulate her to fulfill his need to take revenge from Adi. While both husband and wife can spot the manipulation happening with the other, they are never able to understand the manipulation happening with oneself. Another reason why they both get so frustrated that the other is not believing them in this matter - un dono ko lagta hai ki jo unko dikh raha hai, why cant the other see it. This is causing the rift to widen, rather than close, as both in their ego would rather think that the other is wrong rather than evaluate how the other may be right.

@bold: THIS exactly. He is basically Didi part two as some of us have been saying for a while😆. The male version of Malini was all that was left to complete the "joy" in this show🤣.

Both ASR and Malini are being shown very similar in their modus operandis.....they both know how to present things to Imlie and Adi in such a manner that they are compelled to doubt their perception of things😆.....Imlie is shown constantly befuddled by this guy cuz he alternates between demeaning her and then claiming she is oh so talented that all these fast promotions are on merit.....lol...he instantly knew how to shut her up when she questioned him for humiliating Adi....very cleverly twisted the whole thing around to make her feel like he's some johri who recognized her talent and is helping her achieve her true worth by promoting her to a main writer so quickly.....and Imlie was so hungry for praise, she lapped it up and temporarily forgot what she wanted to question this guy about😆.....Similarly in AM's case, whenever Adi's brain tries to work even remotely, Malini says something in a twisted manner to him that makes him feel like a horrible human being for questioning/doubting her in anyway😆. I'm pretty sure Arylie are going to follow this same pattern long term too even if Imlie finds out about his revenge scheme.....lol the same way people question Adi for not having stronger reactions to seeing proofs against Malini, Imlie Madam will also try to paint this ASR as some kind of bechara each time Adi calls out his nefarious intentions😆.

You have nailed it with what ASR has recognized in Imlie to manipulate his advantage.....the hyper independence and sudden need for validation/praise....lol he cleverly knows how to dispense both to her just enough to continue to keep her beholden to him. Malini uses the sugarcoated approach to play damsel in distress, but ASR puts on the facade of "stern logic" which appeals to Imlie....lol she seems to think he is a khadoos similar to others she's handled so she responds to that......lol

LOL but I don't get how..... Didn't she claim she still has money left over from her scholarship when she was boasting to that Hostel Warden? And isn't this the same Imlie who claims no work is big or small? So if she only needs work to survive, uske liye toh koi bhi menial job bhi chalega.....and come on, she is capable enough of doing that anywhere cuz she's a hard worker....so then why act like THIS internship alone is her ONLY means of survival? 😕......I just find it very very contrived.

Yes, Malini's manipulations have more believable basis cuz she has 7 years of history with Adi and knows him enough to know his guilt triggers......but Imlie has always been faster than Adi in many things na....lol toh manipulate hone ke competition mein bhi she wants to beat Babusahib😛 and is readily falling for ASR ki manipulations. Sayaani Imlie? Haha woh toh sounds like a long lost dream now😆
