He said he proposed and got rejected. That he clearly wasn't nursing a broken heart is not an indication he was making it up. 😆

They went to pick up an award and he ignored her fully. Left the stage without taking a pic with her, that made her cry. Anyways, he was seeing sangeeta than, how would he propose

I watched it. And took his word for what it is.

As for Salman making girls cry...😆 Sangeeta, Somi, Aish would be able to tell you.

Why give diff interp when the man himself admitted he got rejected?

And the award show story doesn't go quite like that. Divya Bharti, Juhi, Amir, and Salman were at a show. Amir and Divya were supposed to do a number. For whatever reason, Amir decided to do the number with Juhi. Divya cried. Salman got mad about that and blamed both Juhi and Amir.

Why did Juhi say in an interview 'hamara toh sab shaadi se pehle hi ho gaya tha'.

Anyway she definitely did not get married in 1994.

She married sometime in 1996-97 and it was finally revealed in 1998-99 that she was married.

I am not interested in her personal life though as dates and claims vary about her in online forums and her own interviews because she had kept her marriage secret.

That was a concert not an award show. I remember reading about it. Aamir did not like Divya Bharti at all and found her unprofessional, refused to perform with her when she missed some rehearsals. Preferred Juhi instead.

Salman was part of the tour as well and got livid at Juhi and Aamir over this.

Salman and Aamir did not get along well either and Aamir vowed never to work with him again after he found him less punctual on sets of AAA. He mocked his habit of showing up late in Dus ka Dum also.

She says she got married in Dec 1995.

No matter what she said about the date or hamara to whatever, her daughter was born in 2001. Much after even the latest date in this post.

It certainly wasn't a rushed wedding because of pregnancy.

So she really doesn't have a reason to lie about the date.

That should put to rest claims of Juhi acting unprofessional.

Oh please. Tabu was brilliant in Border. Border was anyday better than garbage like Gang, Karobar, Loafer type films Juhi chose. It would have given her a highest grosser of the year, a modern day classic in her repertoire and raised her profile. Especially since 1997 was 50th year of India's independence, doing a film like that would have added a lot to Juhi's prestige. Indians anyway love patriotic films and Border is the best war film of Bollywood in last 4 decades since Haqeeqat of 1960s.

Mrityudand actually is a feather in cap of Madhuri and raised her profile as an actor. Her line 'pati hain khud ko parmeshwar samjhne ka bhool mat kijiye' became a punchline for woman power back then and was recreated in films and TV serials later. She did a good job in it. Nowhere limited. She got lot of critical acclaim for it and proved she could do more than just dance. For that matter she has done good work in serious films like Prahaar also.

Yes doing comedy is not easy but doing only one genre and not choosing others is just staying in comfort zone.

Sridevi has excellent comic timing but also did films like Sadma. She has done even more varied roles in South cinema and her Southern fans say her widest range is in Tamil and Telugu films.

Can't say same for Juhi in her prime - doing something other than formula she cracked.

She did not do Raja Hindustani either, which is strange given how she had hits, popular jodi with Aamir and had not had a fall out with him till then. That was a drama cum romance and Juhi could have easily done it. She rejected that also to do forgettable films like Najayaz, Gang, Karobar, Loafer etc? Why would an actress reject a prime role like Raja Hindustani to do Arjun Pandit type films where hero dominated the show?

As for her range, she was limited. She seemed miscast as a cop in Najayaz. Hardly got the tough act right and continued to look same old innocent, vulnerable, cute girl.

I would not give her any more credit than what she is due.

She had excellent comic timing and perfect for sweet, cute, childlike innocent, playful girl or vulnerable girl roles. Beyond that she never tried much herself.

I understand her personal life crisis. But her choices were bad and a lot of films she did with Sunny, Ajay, Jackie, Mithun, Vivek Mushran, Govinda, Anil etc were simply faltu films. I cannot believe she did those films over other good offers she had.

Her PR sense and engagement with media is poor and maybe she is too blunt which is why her career was affected. But she did get support from SRK who is like family to her.

And she was a naturally pretty lady who had won Miss India and never needed makeover or plastic surgery to boost her career unlike some starlets back then. So she had her advantages also. Popularity with kids and family audience was her trump card which she could have used better.

I am sorry but one has to wonder about her script sense when she chose to do a film like Benam Badshah or Anda which has vulgar songs like Maal gaadi. When she had better scripts to choose as she was no longer just a newcomer then.

At times I wondered if she just signed whatever that came her way in her early years? Did she learn her lesson only after rejecting some films that became hits and critically acclaimed films later?

She is one of biggest stars of 90s. And is usually listed among most popular stars of all times and praised for her comic timing. So I do not think she is underrated. Her brief appearance in AAA also showed her brillant skill at comedy and ability to make impact in guest appearances as well.

Her films like QSQT, HHRPK, Raju ban gya gentleman, AAA, Ishq, Yes Boss, Darr etc are hits and QSQT is iconic as a trend setter film which brought back era of romantic films and teen romances. She has never been denied her due for whatever good work she did.

She was called next #1 after her work like Darr and HHRPK in 1993. It is another matter her potential got wasted.

Coming back to the topic - no she is not underrated. She is rightly rated.

For one, no one, including her contemporaries, was able to deny Juhi has immense talent. That she didn't use it is a diff matter. She was not a limited performer. What she was can be called uncommitted to her career or having diff priorities.

For another, Border did nothing for Tabu. That movie was Chandni Bar. Mrityudand actually showed Madhuri's limitations. She was a star and a hard worker but limited as an actress. And how the difference showed when she actually went head to head with Juhi in Gulabi Gang! Even with the author-backed role, Madhuri's weakness was clear against Juhi.

Whether Juhi experimented in her heyday is immaterial. Or Anupam or Meryl Streep or Anthony Hopkins would be nonentities. Or any of the umpteen number of humans who've gone on to make their mark in later life.

And I'm pretty sure not playing the PR games and not kowtowing to Bollywood's ruling twits only for her career is not considered a bad thing in the q9der world.
