what happened to hindi lyrics writers where have they vanished

once upon a time people used to proudly say we listen to bollywood music when kumar , alka , sonu nigam , udit narayan , shreya , kk , sunidhi used to sing ,,,,,now in current sitatuion one can not even tell people that we listen to bollywood songs they will star laughing 🥱

Bollywood probably saw Punjabi songs trending and getting record views on YouTube so perhaps decided to copy them or include Punjabi songs to boost their visibility.

Punjabi songs are used more ever since Punjabi song Laung Laachi became first Indian song on YouTube to cross 1 billion views.

I guess Punjabi songs are thought to be more peppy, upbeat and also get fans in diaspora and countries like Pakistan which is why Punjabi songs are used more now.

Some remakes are just lazy and sound weird when they transplant Hindi lyrics in tunes of Punjabi songs or poorly translate Punjabi to Hindi. Punjabis themselves dislike their songs mangled in remakes in Bollywood films or songs used without credit to originals.

I feel Bollywood today lacks creativity and originality. They just go by whatever is trending or gets more likes and hits.

Punjabi background of many artistes like Neha Kakkar, Honey Singh, Mika etc is also a reason why influence of Punjabi songs may be increasing.
