The warm weather is finally here! It's time to retire those stylish bubble coats and snow boots and hit the racks for chic spring fashions. This spring is all about setting yourself apart from the crowd and determining your own fierce yet personal style. Miss World 2000, Priyanka Chopra, once stated, "Fashion is not being outlandish; it's about being you- yourself. Anything that you are comfortable in is fashion."
This concept is what I love most about the world of fashion. It's one the few ways a person can express themselves freely. There is absolutely no right or wrong answer to fashion. But, there are certainly some dos and don'ts.
This spring is all about bright colors, animal prints, and floral designs; any of these can bring your plain and boring outfits to life. For example, we could take a plain white sun dress, and add cute yellow accessories such as a necklace, some bangles, earrings, wedged flip-flops and to top it all off a stylish summer hat. We just went from blah to voila!
Accessories are a huge deal this season. Fashion has moved far past accessorizing with just jewelry. There are so many options now- women are sporting men's ties, colorful knee- high sweat socks, leg warmers, gloves, and so much more. Fashion is a great way to use your imagination.
There are some cases in which a person does go over board and skips over fabulous and jumps straight to tacky. For example, EVERYTHING does not have to match; your hair does not have to be the same color as your lime green leggings. Let's always remember less is more, especially when it comes to eye shadows, hair dyes, and lip stick.
Men, I haven't forgotten about you! The preppy look is back- men are moving towards more colors just like the women. This spring is all about sophistication; lighter colors, vest and ties, and polos. Pinks and purples are no longer just for women. Men are now sporting these colors with pride.
This spring you will be the hottest on campus with these fashion dos and don'ts. Always remember fashion is about being free and comfortable. It is about free expression of you
