Rani Mukerji's BO supremacy
Not first half, she made a comeback in the second half of the 80s. Also, the were several contenders for the throne but clearly SRIDEVI was the Winner .Originally posted by: capricornrcks
Was Dimple the No.1 in the 80s? No. But she had a good run and was very popular in the first half of the 80s. There were several contenders for the throne at that time with no clear winner. Much as I appreciate Dimple, she was one among the many who chose to play bold roles after marriage. Sharmila Tagore and Sadhana comes to mind.

Nope. Dimple was very much active before 1985. There was a buzz about her comeback. Then there was her famous ad for Crowning Glory soap where she flaunted her lustrous hair. That was definitely before 1986. IMDB credits her comeback films as Zakhmi Sher and Manzil Manzil on 1984. Sri didn't ascend to her throne till the latter half of the 80s. In the early 80s she was just one among the aspirants.
Yes she was top 5 in 80s
Yes, Sharmila worked after motherhood, did glamorous roles wearing some tight or revealing outfits (So her daughter-in-law's claim that she's the first Indian actress (or Indian woman)ever to work after giving birth, a pioneer, is not true...
Dimple did a topless scene in her re-entry movie, Saagar... Don't know if it was cut in theatrical versions... It's a 'blink you'll miss it' scene
P.S. I deleted the clip I posted here
Something else I found out about her
Her birth name was Ameena although she was never addressed by that name... According to Wikipedia her father
"Chunibhai was from a wealthy Ismaili Khoja family, whose members had "embraced Hinduism" while still regarding Aga Khan as their religious mentor. Bitti was a practising Ismaili. As an infant, Dimple was given the name Ameena (literally, "honest" or "trustworthy" in Arabic) by Aga Khan III, by which she was never referred to. She is the eldest of four children; her siblings—all of whom have died—were sisters Simple (also an actress) and Reem, and a brother, Suhail."
Now that Ranveer 's movie is a BB she wants to be linked to him. I hope he learned his lesson with Rocky aur Rani. She has no shame at all. "...

Please share your thoughts. These were arguably the two most-talked about female performances of last year, barring Aneet Padda in Saiyaara who...
