Q. Why does world not recognise bollywood like kpop/kdramas? - Page 9

Okay, I read some comments about BW movies being popular all over the world

 But that's only bcz desis live all over the world... 

Among non desis, non Indian subcontinent people I think it's popular among Afghans and Middle Easterners(for the lack of a better term)

Yes it was popular in Russia once upon a time, actually Soviet Union to be accurate, Western and HW movies were banned in SU, so they watched BW... After SU disintegrated due to the fall of communism, the ban was was lifted, HW  movies are in demand...

I heard the younger generation don't watch or like BW

You forgot the Chinese. If the movie has Amir in it, it's huge there.

I think Bhai might do well there too. Bajrangi Bhaijaan did do well in China. Bas ek baar Chinese launde Bhai ko dekh lein. Phir toh nobody can stop him there 🔥

Not true. It's hugely popular in Central Asia, Middle East, South Asia and Africa as well. Not just among desis.

Quora says only 4 Indian movies per year allowed in China

And Rajnikanth movie Muthu was a superhit in Japan 😛

Why aren't Nollywood movies and actors more popular in the rest of the world especially India? I mean Indians watch HW and Korean... Why not Nollywood?

Nigerian movie industry is the second largest movie industry in the world

I talked about Central Asia and Africa as well. 

I live in USA and I was surprised to hear Bollywood songs playing in Walmart last week. It is international for sure. I don’t watch kpop dramas but they seem popular
