Part 3

“Where are we going?!” Anupama asked for the nth time, her eyes blindfolded as she held Anuj’s hand for support, as he led her.

“Patience Anu! Patience!” Anuj remarked leading her, his patience running just as low.

Anupama rolled her eyes internally. She knew something was awaiting her but what exactly. Hopefully, she wouldn’t disappoint him.

Anuj finally stopped and his eyes brightened, as he stared ahead proud.

‘Nicely done, Anuj! Let’s just hope that Anu likes it’

“Anuuuj!”Anupama whined making him chuckle as he undid the blindfold and looked towards her, expecting.

Anupama could finally see and her smile disappeared as she looked at the view. Disbelief crossed her features while she took baby stepsforward, her eyes wandering around the space.

They were on a hill top now, and below her was the city alive with lights. She walked over to the tent then, few paces away from the cliff.It was lit by fairy lights and flowers were hanging overhead. Then her eyes flitted to the table, decorated with candlesticks and a vase of red roses.

Her eyes pricked and as she reached out to caress the roses, a note dropped from among them and she picked it.

“Tum..sirf tum”

She turned around to Anuj reciting the words and a stream of tears spilled forth. Anuj who was grinning, panicked on seeing her cry and rushed towards her, worried.

“Hey, what happened? Why are you crying?” Anuj asked troubled,his hand reaching out to cup her face.

“I….is this too much Anu? Trust me, my aim was not to pressure you. I just—

“Y-you are such an idiot!” Anupama replied from in b/w her sobs as she wiped her eyes and put her hands over his.

“This is beautiful. You did so much for me, this— Anupama looked around the setup and nodded her head in negative, “was never even a part of my dreams, and yet as I see it today, I feel that this was what I’ve been waiting for. Thank you! Thank you!!”

Anupama hugged him then, and his eyes widened. His hands hovered over her back in uncertainty before he finally embraced her. She liked it!

Few moments later, Anupama came to realize that she had held him hostage for too long, and moved away quietly, embarrassed now.

Anuj laughed then, wiggling his brows, “Lagta hai Anu se controool nahi ho raha”

Anupama glared at him then before breaking into laughter too,while he moved towards the table and pulled the chair back for her.

She nodded thankful and took her seat, while Anuj walked over to the place where he was standing a few moments ago, retrieved a basket and started to lay its contents out on the cart. Satisfied with the presentation,he wheeled the cart in her direction, admiring her form, while she admired the starry city.

She was wearing a red kaftan today and was rocking the look. He himself was decked up in a red suit and black shirt, and was more than happy to be twining with her.

“What will you like to have madam?”

Anupama gave Anuj an amused look, as he held a towel on his arm and bowed, in a typical butler behavior.

“What is on the menu?” She asked then as he started to lift the casserole lids and started to serve her.

“We have evergreen shahi paneer, dum aaloo, gatta curry…and dhokla”.

“Hmm” Anu nodded and pretending to be thoughtful for a second before shaking her head in negative.

“If only there was something more!”

His brows furrowed in confusion at that but he nodded nonetheless, “Tell me. What would you like?”

“You!”

“I-what?” Anuj looked at her comically as she smiled coyly.

“Are you on the menu, sir?” She fluttered her lashes at him and Anuj stumbled a step back, his hand flying to his chest as a dramatic “uff”escaped his lips.

“I don’t think I’m edible!” Anuj remarked as he laid his palms against the table and leaned towards her, his grin mischievous.

“That’s for me to find out”, Anupama replied just as seductive and Anuj nodded, “Ok then. Fair warning, you instigated me”.

And then he pulled away, as he removed his coat and the tie.Curiously, Anupama continued to look but as she saw Anuj unbuttoning his shirt,his skin now peaking at her, she jumped from her seat and quickly caught his hands thwarting his sinful movements.

“B-Bahot ho gaya. Stop now!” She struggled to keep his hands in check, closing her eyes when they slipped to his slightly exposed shoulder.

“You sure?” Anuj grinned seeing her flushed.

“You do look famished. I may be able to satiate you”, he whispered huskily as Anu’s eyes flew open and she gazed into his eyes,troubled.

She was attracted to him, yes. But when even the thought of commitment was troublesome, thinking beyond it was a sin.

Anuj read her expressions and raised his hands in surrender, “Easy tiger. Just kidding”, He added with a smile and Anu snatched her fingers back while he buttoned up the undone buttons.

He gestured her to sit and went on to open what looked like a champagne bottle but when he poured it into the glass, a brown viscous liquid flowed out. Dubious, Anu lifted her glass and smelled it, before pressing it to her lips and sipping it.

Her face broke into a grin as she looked at Anuj, “Chocolate milk?! Really!”

Anuj shrugged with a innocent smiled and clunked his glass against hers, “It’s our thing”.

Anupama hummed in agreement and looked away from him, her heart in turmoil. She had already expresses her concerns when it came to commitment but this setting indeed looked like the one for proposal. How would she even refuse him? Would she be able to?! What if she agrees and they both end up shattered.

‘Hey kanha!’

“Anu,hey! Ease these lines a bit!” Anuj broke her reverie as he poked between her eyebrows which were wrinkled in thoughts.

“No, I was not…” Anupama tried in vain to deny but Anuj just shook his head and crouched in front of her,dropping on his knees as he cupped her hands.

“Two days back when you confessed, I was happy to the point of delusion. I actually pinched myself hundreds of times just to make sure that it wasn’t a figment of my imagination. I’ve waited for you a long time, and would have continued to without remorse. That’s my love for you, Anu”, Anuj smiled as he reached out his one hand to cup her face.

“I understand your fears well, and so I will never put you in a situation where you have to choose between me and you. So just relax, yeah?”

Anupama nodded in response as Anuj got up and started a soft song on his phone. Offering her his hand, he pulled her into his arms and started swaying with her to the music, lip syncing to the lyrics as if dedicating them to her.

“Sapna jahan dastak na de~

Chokhat thi woh, aankhein meri

Baaton se thi, taadad main

Khamoshiyan.. zyada meri

Jabse pade tere kadam

Chalne lagi duniya meri~

He twirled her around twice and took her in his arms once again,their eyes locked.

“Mere dil main jagah khuda ki khali thi

Dekha waha pe aaj tera chehra haiii..

Main bhatakta hua sa ek badal hoon

Jo tere aasman pe aake thehra haiii…”

Her eyes watered once more, the intensity of his love shining through. How can someone love so much?

Anuj wiped her tears then, his own eyes watery as she forwarded her fingers to wipe his.

“Main tumhe duniya ki har khushi dena chahta hu, tumhara har khwaab pura karna chahta hu. Aur iske lie mujhe tumse sirf ek mauka chahiye,apne aap ko, apne pyaar ko prove karne ka. Aur main vaada karta hu ki tum fir kabhi thokar nahi khaogi, aur agar kabhi khai bhi toh, mujhe hamesha saath paogi”, Anuj confessed.

Anupama tried to speak but he shushed her by keeping a finger against her lips.

“Hum dono ka sath, hamara pyaar..labels ka mohtaj nhi hai, Anu.We can be lovers, just lovers….main tumhara premi aur tum meri premika. Bas itna sa haq chahta hu tumse, usse zyada kabhi kuch nhi chahunga”.

“Agar maine aapka dil tod diya toh?”

“Agar maine tumhara toota hua vishwas jod dia toh?” His counterquestion surprised her as she pressed her head against his heart, the rhytm of it giving her peace.

“Agar kal ko hum alag hue toh main bikhar jaoongi”

“Vo kal jo tumhe dukh pahunchae..main usse kabhi aane hi nhi doonga”

“Aur agar ye rishta m-mujhe kabhi bhi kisi bhi wajah se b-bojh lagne laga toh?”

“Toh main tumhe jaane doonga. Par aisa kabhi nhi hoga, mera pyaar tumhare pankh banenege aur ye rishta wo zameen jo hamesha tumhara hi rahega”

“Anu…can’t you give us a chance? Just one?” Anuj pleaded as he pulled away from her to look into her eyes.

Her heart rate accelerated and the wheels of her brains moved.She desperately wanted to give in. The allure of being his special person was a bewitching one. The thought of him belonging to her was just as overpowering.

She shook her head then. Belonging was such a strong word. But when it came to him, more often than not she would behave out of character.

“Then promise me, that you will never hide your feelings from me.Aapki mujhse koi expectation ho, ya koi chahat…aap mujhse nhi chupaenge just to keep me protected. You will give me your 100%. I want to know all of you, the good, the bad, the mad…everything. If you can promise me that….” She trailed and Anuj scratched the back of his neck, his grin impish.

“I can easily promise that Anu, but in return you’ll have to promise that you won’t get scared of the insane me. And promise me, that you won’t shy away from me either. Mujhe lekar tumhari koi bhi khwaish…”

He raised his finger to tuck a stray strand behind her ear, as his finger slid the length of her neck, making her shiver.

“…koi bhi zaroorat ho,do not hesitate. Because there will be some lines that I will never cross”, he pulled his fingers back and moved away.

Anupama caressed her neck where his finger had left behind a hot trail. She had never seen him like that. His eyes looked feral, predatory almost. And as much as it scared her, it pulled her in too.

“I promise!” She forwarded her hand then and he held it,promising too, “Vaada!”

“I won’t be hiding my love anymore. Be prepared to be pampered, cajoled and cuddled…to heaven”, He winked, his voice full of promise.

Anupama burst out laughing, at his poor attempt to appear sinister. Because all he did was look even more adorable.

“Now shall we eat, because I am starving”

He raised his brow then, about to pass a comment when she glared at him, “Hungry for food! FOOD! Got it?”

“Jeez, no need to get defensive”, Anuj joked and both went to the table, Anuj asking for her opinion on every dish he had prepared.

“Sab bahot tasty hai Anuj! You are an amazing cook. Ab kitni tareef karu?”

“Jitni kar sakti ho. Acha lag raha hai”, Anuj remarked, his eyes set on her face and his head full of just one thing.

‘Aaj se Anu meri. We are Lovers! Wo meri hai’

“I love you” Anuj blurted out of the blue, his eyes widening in surprise before Anupama replied smiling, “I love you too, Anuj. We are lovers now, aap mujhe ab kabhi bhi I love you keh sakte hain. No need to hold back”.

“Yeah, I am still coming to terms with it”, Anuj admitted before remembering something and he took his phone, opened the contacts and edited “Anu”to “Mehbooba”

Anu leaned over to take a look and blushed, “Anuj you really…”

“Ha toh, there should be some change na. You are my love, meri jaan, mera pyaar, premika, mera dil, uski dhadkan, mere sapnon ki rani, meri saa—

“Stop, please!” Anupama covered his mouth now, blushing red at the endearments.

In response, Anuj just licked the palm of her hands and she pulled it back, as if shocked.

“Anuuj!”

He just shrugged, mouthing ‘vaada’ and then asked, “Vese, you should change my contact too. Boring sa Anuj hi mat rakhna!”

Anu nodded then, turning away. If only he knew!

Her phone that she had kept on the table, came alive then and the screen glowed. Anuj glanced at the phone smirking, before it widened into a full blown smile.

“My shayar❤️, huh?!” Anuj teased Anu as she quickly cut the call,cursing him for being a douche.

“Vese kabse main tumhara shayar hu?” He steepled his fingers and rested his chin against them.

Anupama roused from her seat then, wiping her mouth in the process, “Not telling!”

“AWw! No fair. You promised!” He followed after her catching her wrist.

“Anuj, I won’t tel—

Anupama paused in her complaint as she felt a cool touch against her wrist and turned around to find a silver bracelet wrapped around her wrist.

Anuj flashed his wrist too, tapping against the engraving as Anupama lifted her wrist and inspected it. A❤️A

Anupama covered her mouth overwhelmed, “Kitna surprise karenge aur? I have yet to give you anything”

He shook his head as he stepped forward and embraced her, “Tumne mujhe apna pyaar de diya na, that’s more than enough. All I need from you is you. Just you”

And that's it! Hope you guys will enjoy it. Detailing is not my strong point so do bear with the lack of it!

Such a delight to read…. Full of love for each other….one to read again. Loved how Anuj put her at ease and how she was not able to resist him.

She roused from her chair slowly and their gazes met. She could read the happiness in his eyes.

“Anu..I…” Voice thick with emotions, and a block forming in his throat, Anuj looked at the love of his life as she smiled gently, in understanding.

“Vo shayari…tumne…” Anuj trailed, as a sniffle involuntarily escaped him. Nope, not working.

She reached for his hand then, and clasped it tightly, “Tumhe achi lagi?”She asked hopefully and as he nodded, she finally let go of the breath she was holding.

He looked vulnerable. He would always bare his heart in front of her, without a second thought.

Shaking her head, her hand reached out for his cheek....
