Though, honestly I don't get it, AK is supposed to be one of India's richest and most powerful, he doesn't have to take any of Shah's nonsense. There is a clear dichotomy in the way his character was introduced initially and is being written now and disappointed with the way they have shaped AK's character, I wish the writers would get their act together and start focusing on the quality and continuity of writing

I agree with the dichotomy. I was watching the show like a mad person since Anuj's entry. Right now, he's become a Yes Minister. I feel like Vanraj is shown for 15 minutes, balance 10 minutes go in Anupama's bhashan about parivar and pyaar. And Anuj agrees in 2 minutes. That's it.

September was very good. Since the Mumbai episode, the show's taken some weird V/W turn. Bapuji - who took decisions like giving the house to Anupama and Vanraj, and asking her to stay back, give her the kharkhana etc. Suddenly he tells nothing, he's become so powerless. Vanraj isn't focusing on the cafe. Idk, it's just become some weird hotch potch. I don't like the degradation of Anuj in this manner. Can't the show for God's sake move on from the Shah's?

Toshu isn't important to the story line anymore. No one's interested in his coaching class or pent house. Let Pakhi stay with her Mom - she's a minor daughter. NO court in India will give custody to Vanraj. Let her stay with the Mom. Stop showing Ba and Kavya and Vanraj. Show some new drama in Anupama's mother's house. Show some drama with Anuj and Anupama and some other bullshit in office. This ghar ka drama gali mein is just shit.

By the time makers dish out drama after drama to rake in those trp's, we Maan fans would need weekly blood pressure and ECG tests😂😂😂

On a more serious note, since makers have taken this confession route and there is nothing we can do but wait and watch, I would really appreciate if they handled this gracefully..no screaming, yelling and gyaan..they should not make Anuj plead or make him apologize for loving her. That will be a big blow to the character. He has lived with just her thoughts for 26 yrs for pete's sake..he doesnt need her to love her. Thats how strong his love is. He should back off and shine as Anuj kapadia. He will always havr an eye on Anu but carry on with his work and show shah's their place. 😎😎 I would have loved to watch Anu fall in love first but if makers have unleashed this story line kuch toh sochke kiya hoga😇

Totally agree with you! They need to focus on Anu, even though its Anupama's story the main focus seems to be on Vanraj, Ba and Kavya.

We get it, the society is horrible. Her mother in law is orthodox and venomous, her father in law is helpless, her ex husband and his new wife are vicious but this isn't their story. The show isn't titled Shah family, its titled Anupama. This is supposed to be Anupama's journey and instead of focusing on them the focus needs to shift to Anupama.

Currently, each time they show Anu taking a step forward she takes three back. Each time she understands she needs to stand up for herself, the next 2 weeks of episodes are followed by Ba getting nastier and Anu listening to her nonsense and trying to decipher why Ba always misunderstands her. For God's sake woman, you've lived with your mother in law for 26 years, do you still not understand that she doesn't give two hoots about you? In fact she doesn't care about anyone but her son and her so called perceived reputation. You've put up with her unreasonable behaviour for 26 years, surely a part of you may have wondered and figured out why she behaves the way she does and if that wasn't an indication surely in the last one year and during the divorce procedure you must have realised maybe she doesn't have your best interests at heart?

I get that the Shah's are important to the story for the drama and to create hurdles but you cannot go from one high point to the next without showing Anu's progress- it makes the show nonsensical.IMO Anupama hasnt been given the breathing space to live her life independently, adjust to her new circumstances and come to terms with life as an independent single woman. Now that she has a place of her own, she needs to focus on moving on in her own life- how she is going to progress on.

Her eldest son is married and capable of taking care of himself, Samar is with her supporting her and she needs to have a frank discussion with Pakhi reassuring her and letting her know that she hasnt abandoned her and she always has the option to move in with her but for Anu, Shah house is no longer an option as she needs to focus on her own self. Babuji is a fully grown man, he has a wife, a daughter in law, a son and other members of the family to take care of him, I know its easier said than done but there are other avenues to stay in touch than to go to Shah house everyday and get insulted and humiliated.

If the writers are concerned about showing drama and TRP, rather than long bhaashans followed by a step forward and three steps back they can show her attempting to overcome the struggles she faces. For example when she starts living on her own, working in a corporate environment, addressing her shortcomings like unfinished education-maybe she could go back to part time education or learn English and this could cause embarrassment for her kids. Or just basic office administrative skills, she can't rely on Kinjal to make presentations for her forever. There's no denying Anuj has a blind spot for her and overlooks her shortcomings and for the show to have some substance those shortcomings need to be worked on. Anuj cannot overlook them forever, he will end up driving his reputation into the ground if he does. They could bring in Rakhi as a client or a business partner for AK's Indian ventures and use that as a point for drama where Anu is shown to be struggling in a corporate environment but overcomes her hurdles or get Vanraj to join AK's office due to the restaurant shutting down and addressing how uncomfortable it can be to work with your former spouse.

I wish the writers would focus more on Anupama's journey, her growth as an individual and how the dynamic between her, her kids and Anuj changes over time. How she grows into a confident, independent individual or doesn't let anybody disrespect her. How she advances in her career. Moving out is NOT synonymous to developing these skills over-night, it is a slow ardous journey, especially for somebody who has spent the majority of their life being a meek doormat. Once the focus shifts, and the show focuses on Anu's development, it would be interesting to see the dynamic change between her and Anuj, albeit slowly and not as rushed as the writers are trying to make it currently.

So well-thought and so well written! Agree with pretty much everything you say here. Even though I love MaAn, I'd still love to see Anu grow everyday. It does seem a bit weird that the Shahs get so much screen time but I suppose it's because they're part of the main cast.

With respect to the fact that the makers only keep showing family drama - I think it's because of the TRPs the show rakes in. It's possible that showing her working in the office and office drama / basically anything which would seem real would drop the TRPs. I don't have any conclusive data to back this so I can't actually say it for sure, but even then an office track can be tried and the makers can see how well it works with the audiences.

I remember KRPKAB (1&2) was one such show which dealt with issues from all areas of life in a very realistic manner (with a touch of drama of course) but it continually suffered from low TRPs even though it had a huge online fan base. Realistic stuff doesn't really bode well with ITV it seems. (I haven't really watched a lot of ITV so I may be wrong, if so please correct me!)

I get what you mean there, an office drama or anything that doesn't primarily focus on an extended family won't bring in the TRPs. I doubt the general demographic that enjoys the saas bahu kitchen politics would enjoy the realism.

Maybe at some point it would be better to bring this season to an end and have it be a web series? Idk how this stuff works in India, but if this is possible then Anupama would be a rather unique series on a streaming service.

Most web series at the moment are either thrillers like Mirzapur, Pataal Lok or Sacred Games that focus on crime or love stories like Broken but beautiful that focus on modern day relationships or there are series like in Made in Heaven and other on ALT Balaji ones that address class issues or there's the erotic ones of course.

I could be wrong but there arent a whole lot of series (or any for that matter?) that focus on the struggles of a middle class, middle aged divorcee with limited qualifications trying to make her way through the world, Anupama could do wonders on an online streaming platform.

-edit-

As for the show currently, I hope the writers try to increase the quality of writing to maintain the continuity of the characters. At the moment Anuj's feelings for Anu make him seem like a caricature of his former self but it is the only aspect they have seemed to have got (somewhat) right about his character

I think if it has a crisp and concise storyline, Anupamaa may work well online. Even though many of the people who don't watch or have watched only part of the show find it (as it currently stands) too regressive. I can't say for others, but several of my friends question me why I watch it and others all watch it as a guilty pleasure. It is pretty much established as a Saas Bahu Drama so I can understand why that happens. So I'm not sure if it continues under the same name/branding, if it'll do well. Also I think this is one of those shows that runs for years on end. Esp being the TRP topper for several weeks now, I don't think they're going to stop milking the show and Anupamaa as a character too. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has gone on similarly so I'm not sure about the future of the show.

Regardless, a web series with a similar concept/different name, a stronger lead and good writing could do really well on OTT platforms.

Am so looking forward to it 🥰🥰✌️

@bold- yes, that is what I mean...I know its too early in their relationship for a rushed confession but she knew it all along

I had said a few days ago that Anu’s realisation will be so rewardind for us viewers and this will do just that...though we’d have wanted a few more nicer scenes and their relationship to grow but they had to keep the thrill element going.

to in short i will be less as long i dont get clear where the story heading .

i really felt this was too early and fisrt it was right for anupama to know than these loosers

already drunk state main he told vanraj ab wapas he has to tell them only anyways cya i hope your excitement is kept and we get good things

behen bharosa toh mujhe bhi kisi par nahi hai, even the creatives will plan each scene depending on the response, Anu ke reactions all depends on the response to the promo, abhi kuch shoot bhi nahi hua bas promo daal diya to create hype and garner public response

early toh hai no doubt but exciting bhi hai, tu fikar na kar jo hoga accha hoga

I hope they shoot the confrontation scene between Anu and Anuj in a matured and aesthetic way. There have been lot of surprises to the audience and I hope this will be one too...am actually slowly getting on board with this track..how long can they show Anuj admiring Anu in slow motion😂😂 this track will also give more depth and screen space for Anuj and get to see a fine performance from Gaurav..so I will say now BRING IT ON!!🥲🥰🥰

aaah I’m so calm now that you get what I meant...

initial reaction sabka was the same cause we love MaAn way toomuch and just the thought of Anu sutting him out s whats created the panic...I would have loved for it to be a slow progression ke baad wala confession but even that gets a bit repetitive, not boring but recycled kinds...we wouldnt mind, it but TV audience would isliye aise dhamake TV par karne zaroori hote hai...

for all we know it might just be a dream or Anu may not be there or even if she is she might not hear all of it😉
