“Shiv”
He smiled as heard Raavi call out for him, he was waiting for her to show up since a while now, today was one of the rare days when his morning had started without looking at her angelic face, she would usually get ready and come to Pandya Nowa so tha the both of them could drive towards college, considering that her house was just a 5 minute walk from his they decided that it would be better for Raavi to come over instead of Shiva picking her up every morning, they would simply waste time going to and fro, considering the fact that Shiva always woke up late and Raavi very early, she used to come over, help his bhabhi with breakfast, wake him up and then pester him to take her. His mornings were incomplete without her.
As he turned around to greet her he found himself spellbound at the sight she presented, she had forgone her usual pastel coloured dresses and had worn a deep dark red dress, Shiva had never really cared for the colour red, sure it looked quite beautiful, he liked looking at red roses sometimes, but that was it. Now as he took in the sight of Raavi running to him, her dress fluttering all over her, he could not help himself from appreciating the colour, the way Raavi’s porcelain skin gleamed against the red that enveloped her delicately, she looked brighter, happier. Perhaps he could convince her to wear red a little more often.
“Bunny”
He walked into her house yelling for her, she hadn’t responded to any of his texts in the past one and a half hour and he was beyond tensed, she was the only one in the house, the rest of her family had gone to attend a function somewhere, and she had begged and pleaded to stay back, in the end Shiva threatened his Maami and she had caved. He found himself feeling lightheaded as she didn’t respond to his frantic calls, tensed he barged into her room, only to find her sleeping peacefully. Shaking his head he walked towards her and placed a kiss against her forehead, settling down by her side and cuddling her body onto his own.
He woke to the feeling of her carding her hands through his hair, rubbing gently at his scalp, as his eyes fluttered open he slowly brought his head up from the crook of her neck, he took in the sight of fresh dewy face and smiled wide at her, his eyes roaming all over her face when they caught onto her neck, the crook of her neck was an inflamed red and he smiled, his beard must have left those marks, he bent his head and kissed the red marks against her skin, she was red due to him, as he looked up from the crevice of her neck, he kissed her full on the lips, enjoying the way she smiled against his lips, as they kissed, nibbled and sucked on each others lips she whimpered, her lips finally hurting from all the kissing. Taking in the sight of her wet, swollen and red lips, he decided liked red a little more that night, she was red for him.
“Kanya ke maang mein Sindoor bhariye”
He scooped the vermillion on the little silver coin and filled her partition with it, the vermillion fell onto her nose, colouring her red once again. As everybody around them gushed, Shiva found himself falling in love with Red, not because it was the colour of love or because it looked good on her, but because of that fact that Red, made her his. Red marked her as his, for life, this one and every one. The vermillion set against her partition and her nose made her his. Finally his bunny was now his wife. Red was not just a colour that made him feel something for her, for red was the colour that made her, his.
Red is the first colour of spring. It’s the real colour of rebirth. Of beginning.
