I know someone who was raised by a single mother. She is doing well in life with no father / brother figure at all. Just her & her Mom. She's a professional/ freelancer, so no male boss or team mate either.😆

I understand the case is rare but such examples do exist. So in case there isn't a male support in your life, you can succeed ❤️

Yes there are exceptions... There are psychos who're raised in two biological parents household and there are well adjusted kids who were brought up without much male influence...

And Preity said the man IS always progressive...

A man who supports woman is always progressive is what she said

You are right. I typed incorrectly. 'Every' is a far stretch, not always.

She did. She said that behind every successful woman, there is a progressive man.

Gotta see more of that speech to say for sure . If she's trying to say that things are so bad for women that only a truly progressive father or partner can help a woman get ahead in a society that's rigged in favour of men...I think I get what she means. Obviously that's not the case for many successful women, but if she's using hyperbole to stress on the need for men to be more 'progressive' ,that support from even one man would go a long way then I agree. I know women from ultra conservative families who managed to have a career or complete higher education only because their husbands stood by them, when everybody else was against them; not just the in laws but their own families.

So the thing with any statement or saying is that it's meant to be a default statement not an exception.. Like the case with behind every successful man and women.... Ofcos there will be an example that is the opposite.. I think what she was trying to do here is honoring good men as well which is not bad in my opinion..

Thank you.

Many others here have said it better than I can and I have liked their responses but basically, it's true that in a patriarchal society, it is difficult for women to climb upwards and fight for their rights unless they have the "ruling party" (which would be men) also offering their support.

There are exceptions of course and some families where perhaps there is no progressive man granting his blessing or support but the general rule would be that most successful women have had the backing of men (and other women as well, since we should not count them out).

I think it's also important to realize that Preity is probably speaking from her own personal experience and that must have shaped her views. She's talked about how important her brother was to her in her life. And Preity has, more often than any other Bollywood actress I've known, gone head to head with powerful men who threatened her or her career and I imagine that strong as she is, she could not survive that unscathed alone. What gave her strength to always stand up for what is right is knowing that she had support from loved ones, which would include men in her family.

Disagreed.

Behind every successful person is a collective of people who believe in them and lift them up whenever they need help. Gender or blood bonds don't matter.
