Maybe Udham will be a kind of sleeper hit...with Shershaah I saw many being crazy about the songs as well as the movie. I don't see anyone talking about the music in Udham movie.
Did not watch either....just an observation based on my Twt timeline.

Lol sabse pehle isko dekho. Its not a great a Bollywood movie but one the best movies of the year in general, Hollywood included.
Bas trust the director and keep phone away. Immerse in the life of udham singh. Its almost the past live in front of you.
lol c'mon now
It genuinely is I am not even kidding. After grave of fireflies the only movie that made me cry.
I understand maybe everyone doesn't appreciate its technical and otherwise brilliance especially indian audience looks down on anything indian but bollywood isn't coming close to this masterpiece like for a while. its speibergian in its craft no doubt about it.
there's so much depth in it. from how his girlfreind is basically an alegory of the stiffled indian voices to the use of long takes in the last half. to it trusting the audience with its screenplay. a show not tell.
i don't live in india, live in finland and watched this with my neighbour who works in theater. he refused to believe me when i told him this is an indie bollywood movie.
you used my reddit comment in your previous post. just that
hi cotten lol
udham doesn't have songs. also a testament to it breaking general biopic expectations.

really? that's odd 😳
i made the post actually
I liked both of these films, but Shershaah had more mass appeal to it.
To answer your question.
Sardar udham is
sad,
needs more attention from the viewer (phone ke bina log movie hi nhi dekhte)
some could say is more confusing with the screenplay,
the last one hour is extremely graphic imo not fit for children ,
it's spoken half in English ,
it's about a hero who's not as famous as Vikram Batra ,
it doens't have songs which are amazing in promotion
At first look it's long (justified imo but yeah)
It doesn't look massy at all no dialogue baazi
Vicky isn't as famous
Dharma productions is better at pr
Amazon isn't promoting it well
So multiple reasons why it isn't creating more buzz. It should in my humble opinion. Its an experience that haunts you. I hope somehow the Brits see it and learn actual true history. I hope it creates more buzz to let a marvelous movie go to the world stage. It should go for the Oscars it's that good technically.
Shoojit Sircar has amazed me at his capability as a director.
Here's a reddit post talking about this topic exactly. I am far from the only one who is mind blown by this movie
