When baby Krishna was born in Mathura, the entire universe rejoiced. Gods, sages, and devotees longed for his darshan. Among them was Devo Ke Dev Mahadev, who felt the divine pull to see the newborn Krishna.
Mahadev Shiv came to Gokul to see Baby Krishna on the twelfth day after Krishna's birth. He arrived at Nand baba and Yashoda maiya's home disguised as a wandering yogi, with sacred ash on his body, matted locks, and serpents around his neck.
When Shivji requested to see the baby, Yashoda maiya hesitated, fearing that his fierce ascetic appearance might frighten the newborn baby.
Mahadev stood patiently waiting outside, longing for one glimpse of the divine child. The moment Krishna sensed his presence, he began to cry and would not stop. No matter what Yashoda maiya tried, little Kanha remained restless. Finally she understood that perhaps the mysterious visitor outside had come for a reason.
Yashoda maiya immediately brought baby Krishna outside.
As soon as baby Krishna saw Mahadev, he became calm and smiled. The moment Shiva saw baby Krishna, his heart overflowed with devotion and his eyes filled with tears. He recognized that the child before him was the Supreme Lord whom he eternally worshipped.
Devotees see this beautiful meeting as a reminder that Shiv and Krishna are one divine truth, two forms of the same Supreme Consciousness.
