Awesome update... loved how you’ve captured their characters nuances and also the fact that your stiry is so real and with the times... Closure is what Anu needs and Anuj knows that, how beautiful is their bond and your writing ❤️

PART - 3

THE PEEKS FROM THE PAST

Pain. Rage. Betrayal. Heartbreak. She felt it all at once. The stinging pain on her cheek was nothing compared to the stinging pain in her heart. She tried her best to blink back the tears that threatened to make their way on her cheeks. Her mind swirled with the onslaught of pain and humiliation she has faced in this house. She felt suffocated in the house. She could already feel her samar ,nandini, kinjal flocking around her trying to make sure she was okay. No, she was not fine so without thinking twice she ran straight out of the home

The roads and the sorroundings felt strangely unfamiliar to her. She had no idea how long she has been running for or where she was. She looked around and took in a deep breath . she took out her phone and called the first number she could think of . the only one she knew would have her back through this. Anuj . Not even two minutes later she heard a loud honk behind her. She saw the headlight of a truck moving towards her in a lightning fast speed. her legs froze in place in absolute terror and before she knew it the truck had hit her. the last thought in her mind before darkness claimed her was that of her kids and him. And soon her world went dark.

She woke up from her fitful slumber with a start. the small beads of sweat slowly made their way down her face while she gulped in huge amounts of air. 'when will these memories stop haunting me.' She looked to her left hoping her that the peaceful face of her husband will calm her racing heart. It didnt take long for her to realise that her husband wasnt sleeping in the bed tonight. He was in the guest bedroom. A long sigh escaped her lips as she recalled the reason why he was sleeping in the guest bedroom.

she got out of the bed gingerly and went to stand by the window. The moon was gracing the dark night with its light while the stars played peek-a-boo with the clouds. The ethereal divine beauty was in stark contrast with the raging storm in her heart.

She closed her eyes feeling the cool wind on her face and soaked in the peaceful calmness that the heaven itself was bestowing upon her.

'paraye mard ke saath itni der raat tak kaam krte hue sharam bhi nhi aayi'

'paraye mard ke saath party manane ja rhi hai. Arey bhajan sandhya ki umar me aise kaam shobha dete hain kya'

she opened her eyes quickly and banished all the 'loving' taunts she had received from the people she called 'family'

'was anuj right in saying that i should meet that doctor? Maybe i will get the closure i need to move on in her life after i visit the doctor'

she slowly tiptoed out of the room and went inside the guest bedroom. The soft moonlight falling on his face made his already handsome face look all the more peaceful and handsome. Despite her previous bitter thoughts she couldnt help the smile that graced her lips as she saw him curling up inside his blanket like a child. She chuckled slightly at the sight and caressed his hairs. Luck it seemed wasnt in her favor today as she softly tripped on her saree pallu and fell with a thud on him. The impact must have scared him to the core since he woke up screaming about what sounded to her suspiciously like "earthquake" . It took them more than 5 minutes to calm down and what followed was a blissful session of love filled laughter. Little moments like these with him that they steal from life made all her struggle in life feel like it was worth it. She was brought out of her reverie by a snap of his fingers.

"arey mrs. Kapadia kahan kho gyi aap?" he asked while stifling a yawn and gently pulled her beside him on the bed while laying his head on her lap. Home. That was the only way he could describe this feeling. "mein toh pehle se hi jaanta tha ki aap zyada der tak mujhe gussa reh nhi payengi. Chaliye meine aapko maaf kiya" he teased earning a playful glare from her.

"agar aisi baat hai mr.kapadia toh aap jakr storeroom me so skte hain"

"arey arey anu tum naraz kyu ho rhi ho mein toh bas mazak kr rha tha. Tum yeh btao ki yahan itni der raat kyu? kuch kehna tha?"

His quick change of tactics earned him a small laugh from the lady of his dreams. his heart still skipped a beat everytime she saw her laugh. the sound of which was a melodious music to his ears.

She took in a deep breath and started running her fingers through his hairs. "i will give this counselling a try" she finally said. He whipped his head up to look at her soo fast she was almost worried he would get a whiplash. His shocked face coupled with his sleep tousled hairs made him look soo adorable that she had to fight off the urge to laugh at his expressions and at the same time pull his cheeks. He got up from her lap for a split second only to kiss her forehead in assurance of everything to be alright and buries himseld back in her lap.

"counselling and overcoming the trauma that years of abuse has had upon you is necessary anu"

"i know. bas kanhaji ki kripa se sab kuch theek rhe"

"sab kuch theek hi hoga tum dekhna"

she continued running her fingers through his hairs. the stretched yet comfortable silence was broken by anuj's childish whine

"now my hairs will smell like masale because of you anupama" he frowned looking up at her.

"achha. agar aapko masalo ki smell itni hi buri lagti hai toh mein kaka ko keh deti hu ki kal se aapke khane me mirch masale daalne ki zaroorat nhi hai "

the childish scream of "no" that resounded against the room walls finally made her crack up in the laugh she was holding back since long.

"anupama suno na please"

She looked down at him and was met with a pair of puppy dog adorable eyes.

"kal woh meri ek important client ke saath meeting hai toh tum woh tumhare special wale theple bna dogi please? sabko pichhli baar bahaut achhe lage they. bahar ke theplo me woh tumhare haath wala swaad nhi aayega na " he pleaded.

she shook her head affectionately and wondered how she was supposed to say no to such a polite respectful request. her mind went into a small flashback of the time vanraj used to treat her and how he was ashamed of the same theple that anuj flaunts to his clients with soo much pride. And for the umpteenth time in the day she mentally thanked kanhaji for sending anuj in her life. She nodded at him and he slightly whooped in joy. She laughed at his antics and watched him slowly drift off to sleep in her lap. she smiled at his sleeping figure and covered him with a blanket while slowly drifting off to sleep herself thinking of all her happy memories. 'things will be okay' her heart whispered to her right before the princess of night claimed her into the deep comforting clutches of dreams and sleep
