PART - 2

WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS IN STORE

she opened the doors to her home to find the love of her life, her husband , leaning against the door frame slightly while trying to hide something behind his back. a soft gasp escaped her lips as she saw the bouquet in his hands and her eyes darted to meet his ,on their own accord. what she saw made her breathe faster and her heart warm like it has been wrapped in a blanket in the coldest of nights. there stood her husband, nervously fiddling with his glasses and looking everywhere else except her while trying to offer her the bouquet and the gift he must have bought.

a smile graced her lips and she stood aside to welcome him home. anuj stepped into the home with a smile on his face that could have lit up the entire house. he watched her move ahead of him and let out a small sigh that he had been holding from the moment she opened the door. she was rushing inside the kitchen to get her husband water but he gently held her wrist from the back and stopped her. 'old habits die hard' she quietly conveyed to him with her eyes and he smiled at her with affection and all the care in the world while accepting her reasoning with a blink of his eyes and forwarded the bouquet to her.

she took it from him with a gentle smile playing on her lips and thanked him. he nervously brought out a tiffin from behind his back while looking down like a child and sticking his tongue out of the corner of his lips . she couldn't help but adore him for a moment and took it from him. while trying to open it she laughed and asked "its been 4 months since we got married why the flowers now?" he didnt had the chance to answer her when she let out a girly shriek seeing the imlie toffees in the tiffin . before she could have stopped herself from doing something that would have embarrassed her or him, she found herself in his arms already ,wrapping her hands around his neck.

if the hug surprised him, he didnt show it and softly wrapped his arms around her waist. his heart did a little somersault at the closeness between them. this definitely wasnt the first time they have hugged but it was the first time that she initiated it. her progress was slow but there has been considerable visible growth in her. not only in the way she looked but also the way she freely talks and laughs now. "does she trust him now?"

but the growth isnt enough yet which is why he was here trying to talk to his wifey about something he was sure she would reject before he even completes his idea. he let out a long deep sigh and took off his glasses while pinching the bridge of his nose. 'this is gonna be tough. kanhaji give me strength'

seeing her husband all tensed and nervous made her feel anxious and she gently pushed him into the lover seat while standing behind him and massaging his head, waiting for him to share his troubles with her like he always does. this time though he gently held her hand , brought it close to his lips and planted a soft kiss on it. a kiss that made her insides melt and her legs suddenly feel like jelly. 'stop behaving like a teenager anu' she mentally chided herself. he smirked at the effect he has on her. 'focus anuj focus. once she finds out what you are going to talk about forget about the romance you will be in the dog house for a month'. another sigh escaped his lips and he gently made her sit in the chair in front of him while holding her hand and kneeling in front of her.

"anu,i want you to listen to me first before you react" he began while rubbing circles on the back of her hand with his thumb and looking earnestly in her eyes silently pleading her to hear him out and understand.

"aap kehna kya chahte hain, seedhe seedhe boliye na" she huffed out in irritation at watching her husband go round in circles with his talks instead of getting straight to the point. 'this ghalib kapadia and his talks that go over my head'

"dekho agar tumne ab meri baat poori nhi suni toh mein firse shayri sunana chalu kr dunga"

"haan theek hai mr. Ghalib Kapadia. ab aap aage kuch bolenge ya mein jau? aapke liye khana bhi lgana hai."

"i want you to go and talk to a counsellor about everything that happened" he said it all in one rapid breath and waited with a bated breath for her reaction.

the color of her face drained away in an instant and she paled faster than what he thought was humanly possible.'she looks beautiful even like this. for heaven's sake stop it anuj she will hit you with a frying pan if she finds out what you are thinking about. GK has definitely rubbed off on you and you have started being a one track mind too'

he tried to focus back on her only to find her sitting stiffly in the same position. he gently tried to cup her cheek and found her flinching away from his touch. his eyes scrunched in pain. 'she is hurting from all the painful memories anuj she needs you right now. dont take this personally'

he gently held her in his arms while making her head lay over his heart and affectionately kissed her forehead trying to calm her down.

she snapped out of her painful trance feeling his heartbeats and looked up at him. it wasnt until she found his face getting blur that she realised she was crying. she felt his warm yet rough hands gently wipe the tears off her cheek and it was like a dam that was broken. she hid herself in his chest and broke down crying repeating over and over "i am not ready to relive those painful memories of betrayal"

holding her closer, he whispered to himself 'i know my love, i know' but he put on a brave front for her and told her that this will help her to finally get the closure she needed and she can finally close that chapter of life and start a new chapter with him.

her anger at being forced into this knew no bounds and she lashed out at him like an injured animal, trying to push him away from her. he softly let her go while preparing himself to hold her and pull her back in case she staggers and falls. she moved away from his arms and wiped a lone tear before it could roll down her cheek paying no heed to his outstretched hands even as they comforted and assured her of her husband's constant support.

she turned her back to him and answered in a quite tone that held no scope for an argument "i am not going to whatever therapist you have contacted. you can cancel the appointment." and moved away from him while picking up her phone to videocall samar.

he watched her go with a sad smile on his face and wondered if he will ever be able to completely bring her out of the shell that 26 yrs of abuse has forced her into. he looked up towards heaven and mentally pleaded 'kanhaji she always asks for everyone's well being. please hear my plea for her well-being too and help me to convince her for this'.

Oh wow… intriguing. I think you captured Anuj’s mannerism to a T and the reaction is what we do expect from Anupama.

I like that it may have been 3 years later and 4 months of marriage but it’s still taking time for them to fully accept the marriage and move on. An element of realism.

I hope Samar can see Anupamas distress and helps in convincing her to see the Counsellor!

Looking forward to next part 🥰

This is a stage in life that both will have to go through because both are hurting, anupama from the past 26 years and anuj seeing the pain in anupama’s eyes and ♥️.

Anuj is going to be the strong person in this no matter what happens
