I believe, that there is much more going on with Sid than just Sanjana or his feelings for her.
He feels a connection and it slowly became an obsession to prove, that he is not how other judge him to be. That is his lesson, as his father warn him in the begging. He has never taken life serious and now he is not being taken serious. The character is going to grow and change with that.
Another thing is also, no one really understands him, listen to him and get that he is serious about this. Reason is ofcause, he has never been serious about anything in his life, so even though Monami cares, she is still not hearing him out and just want him to leave.
Yes he has made a lot of mess and Monami wanting him to leave make sense.
If you are not recognize for your feeling, specially when you share it....you kind of end up were Sid is. His obsession is not so much Sanju, as it is to prove that he is "a good guy with good attention". Sid is impulsive and do lie to come out of a situation (which is wrong, but that how he has manage things till now) but his attention is not to hurt anyone. Another lesson his character is learning. That lies do end up hurting people.
About the precap. It few cuts put together to make a twist. Even if he does blame Monami, doesn't make him a bad friend. You do have your fight with friends and at times your friendship are taken for granted.
My point is, Sid is on an emotional roller-coaster right now, feeling guilty and in love, no one to guide him and he doesn't fully understand his own feeling. He even had a near dead experience. He grow up alone in his own little bobble. He doesn't understand how it is - out side in the real world.
Everyone is ready to punish him for his lies, but no one has actually talked to him, listen to him and then tried to make him understand his mistake. He is left hanging figuring out his emotions by himself.
Yes he is a grown man but not mind and soul. His father hasn't been around and we know nothing about his mother.
Everyone including Monami keep asking him to leave, but he do not want to leave. It is not only because of Sanju but the other relationship he has made too.
Sid is a character with many shades and has a lot of growing to do. As Kunalji said in an interview - learn and unlearn a lot. That the character.
About Sanju and Sid. Then young people being in love is like Sid. Not listing to anyone, but just consumed by their feelings. For us looking at Sid it too much, but for Sid who is in love...it not.
Ziddi people are very stubborn and if they made their mind up on something, it kind of close to impossible to make them change their mind.
I believe the makers are telling the story in a different way. We just need to be patient and see how the story unfold and how all the character struggle within, to find themselves and unite in the end.
Question is of cause, the new way of telling the story....will it be a big hit or not.
Fazi is kept in the background, so not much you can say about him, but he is not selfish.
Monami is being selfish. She just want her friend to leave and not willing to listen to him. Beside she do judge people without having any prove.
Koel is one, with no empathy at all.
Karan believes he has the right to punish and torture someone on behalf of his own judgment. Use his power on someone who are powerless.
Sanjana is abusive.
Sid lies to come out of situations.
So, all the leads have flaws, are selfish and ziddi.
