It would have been better for him if he had remembered his previous mistakes and avoided lying to Pallavi. Pallavi's endeavour was not the cause of his excessive drinking at start of so called ideology track , it was his own guilt.
I understood him drinking and blocking Pallavi out at the start of the Accident track because they hadn't confessed or gone through a storm as a couple like they had via the Mandaar track.
When Pallavi is ready to listen, he always blocks her out and feeds her lies, which she discovers later and arguments ensue.
Raghav always apologies and realises his mistakes , true , but does he learn from that to not repeat them later? I doubt .
He knows he has no reason not to trust Pallavi, i.e. she never did anything which would make him feel she couldn't be trusted and she trusted him when others didn't. But they are both different people and he doesn't have that in him yet to be at ease telling her everything and not having to lie. It is a behavioral thing that repeats because on some level he doesn't fully trust and keeps things from her (we see the same with Farhad, where he doesn't tell him everything), and I expect this track is to explore his trust issues. Otherwise, the writers might be making the point that this is a flaw in his character that isn't mean to go away. Well, that's their call.
Pallavi's approach to getting him to shut down his illegal business triggered something in him that drove him to excessive drinking. What was the guilt for? Feeling inadequate as a provider and then as an employer.
Her concerns for his safety while doing illegal business were totally understandable and valid. Knowing the kind of person she is, it would be out of character if she just looked the other way and pretended nothing was wrong. The issues has always been: Iraadi sahi, tareeqa ghalat. Today for the first time they showed her asking the question if her stubbornness had caused some other issues in the business financially. I was glad to see it because it shows that she is thinking of the bigger picture too slowly. Perhaps we will get to see some character growth in Pallavi which the writers haven't given much time and attention to, unfortunately.
Now it remains to be seen how he behaves with his ex because I won't be surprised if being unable to deal with his frustrations through alcohol at this stage triggers other unpleasant behaviors.
