Nah, I am with JKR. Even as a child I always felt Ron wasn't a good partner for Hermione. He had issues with jealousy and insecurity along with being possessive and disrespectful and in general just unkind to Hermione. They were in an unhealthy relationship and were the type of couple who would not last long after high-school. There was a severe lack of communication between them and their relationship hinged on their relationship with Harry.

If I were in her place, my pairings would have been Ron/Luna, Neville/Ginny, Harry/Hermione.
