How Anuj is the only one who doesn't laugh at Anu's 'silly' questions

For someone as unintentionally homely as Anu, a lot of the knowledge is coming at a later age. Her family giggling at her 'cute' questions about air travel, hotels, gadgets, etc always feel lowkey uncomfortable. She isn't silly or innocent. She literally doesn't know that stuff due to lack of exposure. Due to spending her life in an abusive relationship.. Reactions like the family's can feel low key belittling & prevent people like Anu from seeking more answers.

Anuj has been the first person to address Anu's questions without giggling, scuffing, or calling her naive. That's the most compassionate thing I've seen an ITV male lead do. Props to the writers & Gaurav for giving us Anuj. I hope his thoughtfulness about sweet nothings continues for long..

PS. Someone tell Kinju baby that this is India. Plenty first & business class flyers carry homemade/packaged food and drinks to the airport 😆 - A message from someone whose family makes sure to pack aloo paranthe, achaar, & refillable water bottles for all our business class travels 😆

Water bottle depends upon country /city ho jata hai like milan and Cape Town airport water bottle bhi carry nahi karne dete hai!

Ab flight wale khaane ke charges bahut jyaada lete hain jiski wajah se plane ka kiraya bahut jyaada ho jaata hai

Isliye aaj kul. Log bus plane mein baithne ke bus kiraaya dete hai aur khana apne ghar se ya airport ke restaurant se le jaate hai

Koi koi airlines ne khana dena hi band kar diya. My family went to some where 2 year back us flight mein khana nahin mila tha log airport ke restaurant se pack karke le jaa rahe they plane mein

And yes, Anuj didn't have a journey same as Anupamaa but he definitely had the same background and the same potential.

They attended the same college, had the same friends, lost a parent they were close to, and found a parental figure to confide in.

They went different ways because Anupamaa was gaslighted by Leela and Vanraj into restricting herself into her cage while Anuj unfurled his wings and flew.

Yes he struggled too, but he obtained his optimum.

Him not undermining Anupamaa's silly questions is not because he is smitten by her or attracted to her, but because he has also asked those questions when he started his journey. If he was just attracted to her, he would have said something like Pakhi did, like "Oh you are so cute" tagging her ignorance as something cute, that can be observed from a distance but not related to.

Recently I have travel in ac train. Wahaan pur na blanket mila aur na Pillow. Humne dekha sub apne blanket laaye they. Aur hume pata nahin tha ki ac mein ab train ki taraf se blanket nahin milege but thank god hum log ne ghar se ek do chaadar le gaye they

Even we pack all the food that we can. The first time we went my mother got scared because all my relatives made her scared that you are not allowed food not allowed that this. She actually hid stuff in places you can't think. And not just her the first time I went I didn't know anything about the buttons and all. On one occasion I wanted to sit with my legs up and it was a long flight and couldn't do that for some reason. So these small moments were so relatable so believable that I have can't say more about them.

Wish people can understand how big it was for Anuj to let Anupama be and help her out instead of laughing at her for that stuff. It was brilliant.

The family’s comments on Anu’s naivety though were harmless they did come across as lowkey belittling and perhaps were done that way to show how different and benevolent Anuj is.

The writers must have been in the best of moods when chalking the character of Anuj... he is charming, witty, chivalrous and a perfect balance of heart and head...someone we seldom see on TV.

About taking ghar ka khana on flights, I’ve had non-desi people either giving dirty stares or wanting to have a share of the homemade samosas/ snacks my family carries on long haul flights😆

Love such people who answer queries/teach/correct without laughing or belittling someone. Rare quality.

This truly was a thought evoking post. Thank you for taalking about. I too had simply enjoyed the family treating anu's inexperience as cute but now i do realise, that it was belittling in some manner. But since they had no intent of doing so, anu didn't take take anything in negative light. Though all of us in some or other way think that whats normal for us is normal for others too. That is not the case usually. And this is the very behaviour that make things "trivial" and in succession "embarassing" to be asked about. If only rather than being judgemental, everyone would be more sensitive (just like shayar kapadia❤️)
