The new lead syndrome

Hey guys...

Do you think Anuj Kapadia is going through the New Lead syndrome?

Let me explain.

1. He is perfect from every angle.. almost to a enviable level of perfection... You can look through microscope and you wouldn't find a fault.. (for now......... I 'll explain ..please read till end)

2. The person who was a complete stranger till now is now always involved on everyday basis with the FL.

3. Building up an organic relationship takes a backseat and many tropes such as 'staring longingly', 'smiling', 'cute-meets' and 'how other people see them' take the spotlight.

4. Everyone who were tired of the same toxic nature of the show felt a huge rush of dophamine when a fresh face with audience POV entered.

I am not saying that this is bad.. In fact I myself look forward to he anuj scenes.. because they are like a fresh breeze in this show. And Anupama also needs such a perspective. But to make him likeable they make him too perfect.

Let's compare Him and Devika for once.

Devika is also a person who motivate Anupama from time to time. But she is not all that perfect. She looses her cool with Anupama like all of us when Anupama decides to become slave to her regressive family. She fights with kavya (in their house) Head on without worrying about bade/bachche kya sochenge and all that. She have a dark past which she is not afraid to disclose. She may not be much into the traditions and such.

Devika feels like a human being complete with her traits (positive/negative)

While now Anuj is shown as a perfect human being to make audience like him more. He is super patient. He is party animal and a real sanskari beta. he is a perfect businessman who wouldn't take decisions based on emotions unless and until the plot requires him to do so. And the most irritating is he is seeing Anupama through his 'rose tinted glasses' instead of seeing her as a human being.

And I know that is facade will be removed the moment Anupama and Anuj accept each other. Then we will get to know that everything is not as perfect. He might have a relative he values more than his life but the relative would also have regressive mentality. or something.. something in past .. or something totally different. But we can all be sure that their boat will not be a smooth sailing boat for sure.

If the crack is something which they are planning to show later on.. why not give the audience some hints beforehand?

I am waiting for his phase when he will be the no-nonsense guy who will shut everyone up with his sass and realistic talk.

We got a glimpse of it with Paritosh but alas it was just an imagination. If they are writing him to be same as the Bengali character, minus the poetry, his no-nonsense responses, especially the ones to wake Anupamaa up from her mahaan-syndrome, will be fun to watch.

Just as anupama has mahanta syndrome so anuj as flawless syndrome writer ko character thod grey karna chaiye tha character such as vansh feels more relatable than anuj he is stunning no doubt but itna flawless hajam nahi ho raha hai. No one is perfect In the world except God.

What dark past does devika have? Sorry I have only started watching the show since reunion party.

Same as Anu.. Her husband cheated on her.. she divorced him and I think she also dragged him to jail..

Right now he is being professional. Whatever he talks to GK about, is behind closed doors.

Eventually he will step in and save Anupamaa from a lot of troubles. Unrealistic? Let me continue.

So Anupamaa will give gyaan but will eventually forgive everyone Anuj saves her from. That's when Anuj will tell her how stupid she has been all her life.

That forgiving Kavya and Leela and remaining "stain-free" matters to her more than what Anuj feels for her and what Samar, Kinjal and Devika want for her.

And that anger is realistic. He has enough money to save Anupamaa, that is not demanding of much effort. Effort is tolerating that Anupamaa will undo all of the money he spent by forgiving the wrong-doers, who JUST WON'T LEARN. And putting in that effort is stupid too.

By not doing that effort, Anuj will prove he is real and human and not a superhero like Anupamaa.
