Clearly, in our culture, self sacrifice, letting go and putting needs of others over one’s own is called as love. Which is why a mom’s love is most revered here. We can see it easily in movies like KKHH, veer zaara, KHNH etc. There is this quality of simplicity and innocence. I think that quality is shown in Harry Potter books and movies as well - loyalty, love..

K Dramas - The guy almost always a jerk and rich with daddy or mommy issues all the time. The girl is always poor. 🤪

Western movies lack that kind of build up. They don’t have the nuance that Desis do. Even Pakistani dramas like ZGH & Humsafar are able to show romance with zero physical intimacy.

So agree! Simplicity is the way to go really to have lasting/timeless movie impressions.

In HW, I mostly enjoy fantasy, sci-fi, superhero stuff. But a good rom-com watch is more often than not dependent on BW.

Perhaps one of the few HW roms I've liked is Pride and Prejudice and I think that's stemming more from my love for the original novel😆
