Off topic, in 10 months I wish these two 18 yr old spent time in understanding each other and improve their bond. It would have helped both in long run. They can learn from each other in many things. Unfortunately it never happened looks like. May be their different personalities never let them come closer I guess.

Aru was closer to Anjali coz I guess she knows her from before through Anju's sis. Mr. Gaekwad also said Anju has a good bonding and talks most with Aru coz she is closer to her age.

SMP and Aru bonded late but learned a lot from eachother as per their live.

And both seem kind of recluse ..even SMP hasn't made many friends..girls specially.

Did Arunita meet Nandini before? Or did they bond when they met at Idol ?

The only issue with Aru-SMP was that both are intensely competitive. You need very deep bonds to overcome that rivalry where a prize is at stake. SMP is very close to her mom who was her constant companion. Plus she knew Anjali from before and they are close friends. She had no need to go out and be friends with scowling Aru. It is only after Anjali left that the friendship got a chance to develop, and I think it developed based on skill-admiration rather than sharing common ground.
