Yes I think it is from that day when Lakhan Ambodiya had put up posts that he is recording with them - before the YRF recording. I think it was Tuesday - clothes match those posts.

He sounds like what he is - a non-Bengali singing a Bengali song. But sounds tuneful and that is what matters I guess.

True. Those nuances need a lot more effort, especially under the guidance of somebody with native fluency. There are quite a few BTS videos on YT of Shreya Ghoshal learning the nuances of Malayalam and Tamil songs and those are a treat to watch.

I think she has spoken about something like that in some interview, but I am not 100% sure. But when you listen to the finished product, it is mind blowing. Search for Paalthira Paadum if you haven't heard it before.

Also language adaptability has something to do with your mother tongue. In India, many north Indians struggle with Bengali in my experience.

I have seen that work both ways. "Mother Tongue Influence", as my friends in the call center industry call it 😊 Very strong in India.
