Yes I’m a Gujarati and no I don’t call anyone and everyone names, just ppl I care for. So it’s an individual personality trait.

Definitely not just a gujju thing.. I don't do it all the time but like @faithaboveall said it sometimes is on terms of endearment...

Most communities have this to some degree.. I think its just the actual language since if you translate it in English it's pretty much similar

Kaddu - pumpkin

Bandar - monkey

Ghadheri /da - literal sense is donkey but i tend to use if for idiot
