Pallavi sadly stared at how Raghav dozed off without talking to her but she was determined to make him listen to her. "Nehi. Aaj main isse baat karke hi rahungi!"
Sleep had almost taken over him when he felt something heavy over his stomach. He immediately opened his eyes, only for his eyes to widen in shock at the sight in front of him. His eyes met with those of hers.
“Pallavi, yeh tum kya kar raha hai?”
He questioned in bewilderment while she made herself comfortable on his lap.
"Tumse baat karni hai."
"Dekho, mereko tumse koi baat nehi karna... I am warning you. Please utro."
"Pata tha! Isi liye ye rasta apna na padha taki kahi bhag na sakho," she leaned over and now her face was inches away from him. "Iss liye chupchap ab meri baat suno. Ardhamainda?"
"Pallavi..." This time his tone was no more angry or irritated, rather it was husky and his facial expression had changed as well. "Agar tum isi waqt mere upar se nehi hata na, to baat nehi par kuch aur zarur hoga."
"Nehi, pehle meri baat..."
Let alone finishing her sentence, she couldn't even understand when or how had their positions changed. Now, she was pinned down on the bed while he hovered over her with his signature smirk playing on his lips.
"I had warned you.... Time's up, Saree ka Dukan."
Like he said, she actually didn't get the time to comprehend anything. The next thing she knew was moaning because of his nuzzling in the crook of her neck. Her hands slowly glided upwards, making their way from his chest to his shoulder blades to finally his hair.
Her fingers played with his soft, silky hair while he made a trail of lingering kisses from her shoulder to the mole in the middle of her collarbone to her other shoulder. He won't leave any millimeter of her body unattended by his lips, he made a mental promise to himself.
Strawberry, his nostrils filled with the smell of her hair. He loved his hair so much. And her eyes. And non-stop chattering. He loved everything about her. How could he be mad at her?
"Raghav..." She spoke, almost in a whisper, when he kept staring at her with a pained expression.
No, he didn't want to talk now. All he wanted to do now was to express how much he loved her and it couldn't be described in words. Moreover, "Raghav Rao harr cheez bolta nehi."
Brushing her hair with one hand, he leaned down again. This time to kiss her on the lips. Hers were so soft, like feather. It wasn't difficult for him gain access to her mouth given she was a first-timer and he was a self-proclaimed great kisser.
He broke the tender yet passionate kiss after a while considering her breathlessness. He took her hand, whose thumb was all this while stroking his cheek, and kissed the knuckles without breaking the eye-contact. Then threading his fingers through hers, he dipped down to peck on her forehead, before sitting up straight.
She got up as well. "Raghav, tum hi kehte ho na ki raat khatam, baat khatam? Toh please meri baat sunlo ekbar. Usske baad aaj ke raat ke saath yeh baat bhi khatam karte hain na. Mujhse tumhari yeh narazgi tolerate nehi hoti..."
He sighed and looked anywhere but her.
She continued when he didn't say anything. "I am really sorry ki Amma aur tum itne hurt huye. Believe me maine Keerti ki madat nehi ki ghar se bhagne mein. Ussne mujhse kaha ki use office mein kaam hain aur vo mujhe kamre mein lock karke chali gayi! Haan, mujhe aur careful hona chahiye tha... But, Raghav, tum khud ekbar thande dimaag se socho ki agar tum Keerti ki zabardasti shadi karwa dete toh kya vo khush rehti? Jiss ladke se tum usski shaadi karwate, kya usske saath yeh sahi hota? Shaadi ke baad vo bhaag jati toh?"
"Pallavi..." He began, still not looking at her, "Tumhe kya lagta hain main itna hurt kaiko hua? Main janta hain ki zabardasti shaadi mein koi khush nehi hota. Tum bhi kaha khush thi! Lekin main aur kya karta? Keerti mera chhota behen hain. Ussko protect karna mera responsibility hain. Main already mera Nanna aur chhota bhai..." His voice cracked, "...ko protect karne mein haar chuka hain, mereko phirse nehi haarna tha... Tum janta hain na vo Sunny kaisa insaan hain? Ek murderer ko support kar raha tha vo! Main kaise dekh sakta hain apna behen ko usske sath? Main phirse fail hogaya... Nehi bacha paya apna family ko..."
She very well understood what fear had gripped him. If not anything else, one thing they had in common was their blind love for their family.
"Dekho, Raghav, legally hum kabhi Keerti ko Sunny se shaadi karne se rok nehi paate kyun ki dono adults hain aur Keerti andha pyaar karti hain Sunny se! Yaad hain na ki kaise Sunny ke kehne pe Keerti ne tumse divorce papers pe sign karwa liye the? Toh socho Sunny ke ekbar kehne se vo aur kya kya karsakti hain. Hum Keerti ko kuch bhi bol le, vo humari baat nehi sunegi. Use khud apne aankhon se Sunny ki sachchai dekhni hogi. Tabhi vo samjhegi," She cupped his face with her small hands and made him look at her, "Humein bohot carefully iss situation ko handle karna hoga. Hmm?"
Her eyes reflected so much confidence and determination that the situation will definitely get better that he found himself believing in it as well. He also felt a lot lighter after having this conversation with her, as if a burden was lifted off his shoulders. He closed his eyes and let out a deep sigh of relief as she gently stroked his cheeks with her thumbs. The effect she had on him was insane. Only she could calm this raging beast.
"Ek aur baat..."
Here he had thought that her "lecture ka dukan" was officially shut for the night but no. His eyes shot open and gave a questioning look.
"Phir kabhi humari shaadi ko zabardasti ki shaadi matt bolna."
He didn't know that one sentence could affect her so deeply until he saw her beautiful and expressive eyes glisten. Seeing her pout like a baby, a small smile appeared on his face. He embraced her tightly, wordlessly promising to never do that again and content with the fact she was indeed happy.
