Can you love two people at the same time?

Is it possible to be in love with two people at the same time? I think it is. Maybe you can't be with both or marry both (except in some places), but you can definitely be in love with more than one person at the same time.

I don't think so. The intensity won't be the same. An honest question to ourself will give away the secret.

There might be an overlapping phase where love for one is decreasing while for other it's increasing.

You can have different kinds of feelings for two people, for e.g you may feel affection, friendship and stability with person A and passion and intensity with person B, as you can have varying degrees of passion for two different people. That doesn't necessarily demean either of your bonds or reduce one to "just a crush/infatuation". Both are unique and special in their own ways. Who are we to define or judge anyone else's love as per our perception, our values and our thinking?

I don't know if you're talking about loyalty here but the way I interpret your question, we're strictly speaking about raw feelings, beyond marriage etc.

So when it comes to commitment, things do get complicated if you're having feelings for more than one person. Now is when values and principles get in. Those Elena Gilbert situations do happen in real life too, and usually you're gonna have to make a choice when it comes to who you want to be loyal to because it's pretty unfair to swing between two people and cheat on them. Unless of course, they consent for ménage à trois.

You can. Been there. But not ideal and it would get bumpy pretty soon . You 're gonna forget about one to keep the other going in the real world.
