yea i think its ridiculous. a sari is part of the indian tradition and ppl in india shouldn't forget that. i don't see how its SO backwards if a woman in a serial wears a sari. i just don't see the connection. in america, indian women are always wearing saris and the younger girls always wear suits to parties and stuff and no one calls us backwards.

^^ i dont completely agree with u. In america , actually people are forgetting their culture and at some point i dont blame them. You have to blend in with the place ur living in...and standing out like this can really catch some eyes...but anyways these days no one in india even wears sarees or suits....aunties are wearing backless dresses , fine they are trying to modernize which isn't a bad thing. And all these Cultural....and traditional talks are very old...."Forgetting culture", and all that ...no one gives a damn about it anymore. Its all filmi....we see these things in all these serials , but in reality its completely different

I dont agree that we are forgetting our culture in America. On any good occassion women are wearing saris and the younger generation is wearing choli suit, chania choli or punjabi/churidar suits. Only 5% women are wearing western outfit in a party/marriage occassion.

america or gulf or india.....a saree is the most elegant stlye of an indian women. all leading ladies of bollywood wear sarees nowadays at functions. Even Nita Ambani wears a saree or a suit. There is nothing wrong in wearing western clothes...it just has to go with your temparament and comfort.
A Saree would never go out of fashion anywhere in the world. The serial has just gone overboard about humiliating the leading lady.

in America peopel are way more closer to their culture them peopel of the south asian they are too much in to the western culturei live in JN a town where 40% of population in southasian and we wore salwr kammez to school on wasakhi and eid to show our pride of being who we are and yes the serial has gone overboard with the insult rgrding the sari.its not considered backward to wear a sari because that is the traditional dress in India.

I disagree with those saying u need to blend in and act like some white washed drone

Sari's , suits , lengha's are gorgeous!!!

Many indian things have become main stream..Henna, nose piercings, tunic/kurti tops, music,

Many girls at my work cannot wait to wear a lengha or a sari at a wedding ... i see tonsa white people at my local indian market..shopping for brown clothes

indians are actually moving more towards their culture
