Yup, they made up this story about their own nephew. But I have a question, Aunt Pentunia refused to leave Harry with Aunt Marge when Mrs. Figg was ill because Marge hated Harry. Was Aunt Perunia really concerned if Harry was loved or hated?

Hey Tiara, one of the very few things I ask the new members, rank your favourite characters based solely on books as far as you've completed reading for the first time!

Well, I am not a new reader but I want to rank my favourites:

Snape(Always a Snapehead😳)

Dumbledore(He looked so positive (kinda godly)and a know it all kind in the first set of books, but in the final books I loved to read about his flaws and mistakes

Sirius( I had liked the way he was protective about Harry)

Hermione( probably in our childhood we all wish to become like Hermione, a perfect student over anything else😆)

Ron( I actually liked Ron as an individual, his friendship and loyalty towards Harry and his relationship dynamics with Hermione was worth rooting for)

Harry( I don't have much fascination for Harry as a character, but still he has sacrificed enough in the fight with Voldemort)

Regulus(This character fascinated me, if he had been given more time and detail in the book then I would have placed him in higher ranks)

Last but not the least Tom Riddle Lord Voldemort (For being the most twisted, dark and complex man in Harry Potter universe)

Did Dudley think Harry is 'special'? His parents feared magic and wizards, so Dudley probably thought Harry was a wierdo. Maybe the reason behind Dudley never stopped bullying Harry, because he feared Harry. That if Dudley 'showed him his place', Harry would fear him instead.

About facing his friends, Dudley probably bragged how his cousin was a dangerous criminal boy, who deserved no kindness, to hide his insecurity after knowing that he possessed no magic.

What are your thoughts?

I remember Petunia was jealous of her sister, right? I forgot many things as its been a long time since I had last read the books. So, there is a proverb na "fox that cannot reach some grapes on a high vine anannounces that they are sour", its that sort of applicable to Petunia too. No doubt Dudley follows his mother's footsteps too.

I always thought that she was concerned about Marge, not Harry. And she might have been feared Dumbledore and his letter. We don't really know what was written in it. It just might be that she didn't want anything too serious happening to him.

Oh yeah, I remember now slightly, what would Dursleys can do? They are so proud & jealous people IMHO.

My favourite scene from the first five chapters that wasn't present in the movie was Harry and Draco's first talk at Madam Malkin's.

Which are yours?

Oh yeah, Petunia was jealous of her sister. And she took out all the frustration on poor little Harry. :(

Vernon was scared of the wizards, and wanted to live in denial as much as he could.

My favorite scene from the first five chapters is when Harry speaks to the snake at the zoo, empathizes with it. And then performs accidental magic, which sets the snake free, and in the process Dudley gets trapped in the glass. 😆

That was hilarious, and I found it better to read it than watch it, as usual.😆

Also, sorry for mistyping my question. What I really wanted to ask was about your favourite scene from the book (ch 1-5) that weren't present in the movie.

I think we can discuss this for every reading since movies vs. books is a constant debate. What do you all think?🤔
