Hey Sim and fellow HPians

Anyone here who finds JKR irritating with her continuous interpretation of HP?

She shud have left it to readers.

Hii Mannu...🤗
Good topic to start the discussions with!

I exactly feel the same. One of the most controversial comments made by JKR in 2014 long after everything's got over was about Ron-Hermione's relationship and Hermione's better match would be Harry when JKR did so well making their relationship evolve from year to year in her past seven books which totally indicated Ron and Hermione to end up together in the very end. Even though she didn't imply anything directly, such comments were totally unnecessary and its been exaggerated for no reason by many. I was completely disappointed with JKR after that article came out. Then comes her Dumbledore being "gay" comment! I always feel books are a way to build your imaginations and interpret the author's perspective in your own way.

I know. I like background stories on pottermore. That is fine. But JKR keeps coming back with her own judgments like her views about Draco Malfoy fangirls or about Sirius Black or Snape. Yes she is a writer but every time she judge people for liking some char is irritating. all persons cant be same.

also she confused many people about Harry's grandparents. many earlier thought Charles and Doria Potter were his Grandparents. then she came with another set. she wud have atleast cleared the confusion how Potters were related to Charles and Doria Potter.

I also dont like her condoning Curse of child as sequel to HP series. If she really wants to write more HP series, she shud write about Voldemort's rise and Marauders in Hogwarts.

Yes I know...Coming to her comments on fangirling Draco, what I think is that she actually made those comments as a consequence of a part of fanbase believing that Draco had a real golden heart and Harry and Draco might be very best friends which was certainly not meant to be in the original series and also shipping Draco with Hermione which is very much delusional. Its all started cuz of Tom Felton and his handsomeness , not pretty much related to the fact of "liking" the anti-hero or Draco so much. So I don't blame her anyways in this topic!

Next, comes her Snape remarks! Being the creator of such a great series, I think its ok that she analyses her characters which she created, but sort of contradicting her own book and statements what makes me irritated! I still remember how she said about those who still ship Harry-Hermione after book 5 need to go and re-read them as she had dropped heavy hints about Ron-Hermione to happen in her earlier books, and she was the one who came out with a different statement in 2014 about it, what else disgusting can it be! But well, really that doesn't change anything! Snape was a grey character- I liked her statement when she said sort of like that Snape was neither a saint nor a devil- which is absolutely true! Whereas how he had made Harry's life pathetic during his years at Hogwarts can't be pardoned just cuz he resembles his father James in many ways whom he loathed so much, on the other hand,we shouldn't forget that he was the one who sacrificed his whole life to save Harry out of his immense love for Lily. So Snape deserves respect and forgiveness both.

Now coming of the sexuality of Sirius for which she got trolled on twitter was I think taken out of context and exaggerated unnecessarily! I mean why would I care about such a great character's sexuality, where there are so many traits of him to admire and discuss with.

About Harry's grandparents, there were no particular hints dropped in the main series about James's parents, but I remembered JKR once said that almost all wizarding families are somehow related, maybe she hasn't focussed on it, but she should clear the facts. I don't think I've read about it.

Next coming to the Cursed Child saga, I totally don't consider it as a part of the Potter series, almost all characters of the main series behaved very out of character in the screenplay of this book, keeping apart the fact that the whole book is so confusing mainly cuz of the random time travel from one reality to other and there are many missing ends. I think everything's need to end in proper time, which did happen for HP series with DH from JKR's side, else you'll get like Cursed Child debacles!

P.S. I would really like to read more of Marauder's generation if there is any hope of any proper sequels by JKR or between the time after war ends and epilogue begins, any day!

heard Tom and Emma had fling during HP series. I dont know whether it is true. Draco-Hermione is purely imagination which is impossible in logical HP world.
I am no fan of Draco and Snape but as an author who has completed her series she shud leave it to readers how they want to interpret the characters. HP fandoms and ships are so diverse that one will bang their heads on wall.

I am also effed with JKR becoz she made Harry-Hermione behave like siblings. in one write up she also wanted Harry to be adopted by Grangers. and then she went ahead and commented on Harry-Hermione may be couple after watching movies.

I dont get it why people judge Ron so harshly. He was always a better person than Draco- more braver, more loyal, better person just not richer. He was also the one who came back always to say sorry- not many have courage to do so. Movies thoroughly destroyed Ron.

Finally a place to relax!! Thanks Simi.
Since I'm a relatively new in Potter Universe, I hope to not only enjoy, but learn new things too. And I see that is already happening. I never read about the article about Sirius' sexuality and have no idea what it say (what does it say anyway?), though I have read the one about Dumbledore's.

I havn't read many tweets from JKR but I do like the stories she posts on Pottermore. I especially liked the one about McGonagall. It was very touching and nice to read about the woman behind the strict appearance.

I have read Cursed Child. I was so excited to read a sequel of HP and now that I have, I wish somebody could obliviate it out of my mind!
