On the Marathi daily dramas that I've watched, female leads generally don't give up their jobs. Occasionally, they make progress - for example, Latika on Sundara Manamadhe Bharali works at the bank and just got promoted to Assistant Manager. For a while, she was covering her husband's mortgage payments too. And she gives him advice about presentations and negotiations. Today, when she was lecturing him about restoring the neighbourly relationship of their families, he tuned her out and when she asked, "What did I just say?" he replied, "The usual, I have no budget, I don't plan ahead, I'm an impulse buyer, I change my mind too much ..."

One absurdity is that no matter how suddenly the wedding happens, the heroine always gets to choose how soon to rejoin her job. She even asks her mother-in-law if it is all right to continue working. It's quite insulting that the question is still, "Will she be able to balance her housework and her career?" and not, "Will her husband and in-laws step up with the housework so that she can focus on her career?"

I really wish to learn other languages apart from hindi punjabi and english just to see all the marvelous content available…

Very good question. I’ll answer with another question. Does Pallavi have any money? 😆

- her shop was in losses

- her personal savings all used up for the good for nothing Mandar.

- she’s ignoring her work - the nawab order is still pending I guess. Ab tak to unke yaha shadi to chodk, pota poti bhi aagaye honge 😆

- she hardly goes to the shop (but I’m glad they’ve shown us that she does go sometimes). But she’s just not focused right now.

- nikhil runs the shop so I guess there’s no income from there. Her freelancing isn’t earning her much (she’s always struggling between two families)

I think it’s an unsaid thing that Raghav already caters for her personal expenses. He gets her gifts, we’ve seen. I am assuming she already has a card. Or maybe people are just afraid of taking money from Mrs. Don 😆

One of the things I don’t like about ITV is how career women all of a sudden become housewives. I have nothing against housewife’s, it’s a full time difficult job too. But, how does a woman who have a full time job or career, out of the blue, start staying at home and not worry about money, especially if she’s not going to be using her husbands money and more so if she has to support her parents (maika)? Our Society doesn’t speak of it but girls do have to support her maika even after she’s married. High time people see this and normalize it. Until then, the battle of equality will continue.

This makes me wonder if Mandaar's ultimate goal is Raghav's money.

Very interesting question. I've always wanted to know this. But just because she's raghav's wife doesn't mean she will be using his money for maintaining herself. The fact that she's shown to work in DSE means it's implied that she's independent financially. Not well off, but sustenance and everyday kharcha etc. Even the ambulance payment for Raghav, we are to assume it's her own money. Her purse matlab khud ka😆

The story doesn't make her go to DSE everyday but we are to believe she's working and earning. It's same logic like how raghav isn't shown to go to work everyday but for him that take an effort to mention that he's working😆only difference.

I agree with your views about working women turning housewives overnight. But in Pallavi's case she is better off as a housewife considering how pathetic a designer she is. I don't want Raghav to lose crores to pacify the customers he referred Pallavi to. 😆
