Started reading chapter 1. I'll probably finish it today.
I just realised that some of the discussion may turn retrospective for those who've already read the books. So, I'll tag it as Spoiler if it goes that way.
(Spoiler)
I'm at the point where Hagrid has arrived and every time I read this conversation, I can't help but think of the other side of the story. Of what's happening with the Marauders at this point after Sirius goes to rescue Harry and gives his bike to Hagrid instead. Remus must have heard about it all too. But more than anything, I think about Sirius. He's one of my favourite characters, and this is the point his life changes forever. I can't stop my mind from turning to his side of the story. It seems like I can hear his hysterical laughter after "killing" Peter, and it's gut wrenching to think of it's reason.😭
Will come to discuss on Monday, Diya...just a bit busy aaj aur kal....
Currently on the 5th chapter and a few pages left....Gonna come @tomorrow noon to have discussions till Ch-5. Hope to see you two too...
After finishing upto Ch-5, I couldn't come here as I had suddenly become very busy with a very important presentation which I have to present this week. Hope you had completed our first re-reading assignment on time!
I loved always about how JKR made Harry popular yet a very ordinary 11 year old boy who feels just like any other boy/girl of his/her age and not like some wizard/witch. Dudley is a typical example of a child who gets overpampered by his parents and that makes them a dumb bully!! It was the best decision of Dumbledore that he thought to have a low profile childhood for Harry so that he learns to remain humble and that's why he could never tolerate the boy in Leaky Cauldron insulting Hagrid or muggles. [It was Draco, right? (I forgot actually)] And that's one of the many reasons why later he had chosen to be friends with Ron over Draco.
Who will set the next deadline? Diya you do first....
Also please go slow upto Friday...I may not be able to read anything upto Friday afternoon.
When all the wizarding world is celebrating Voldemort's defeat, Harry there lost his parents and became an orphan! What a terrible day it was for him whether he would be able to feel it or not! How pathetic Sirius had felt hearing his best friend James's death! Sirius was and will always be one of my most favorite character among all....Started reading chapter 1. I'll probably finish it today.

Let's start after Friday then. Even I need a day more to complete the last one.
We can keep it short and do 4 chapters in 3 days this time. That will be chapter 6 to chapter 9 by Monday.

Exactly what I keep thinking. And not just celebrated that day but continued to do so over the years, and as far as I remember, at points even congratulated him on it.
Hey Diya, my scheduled presentation got postponed on Monday...and after that I will have lots of time to read, would you like to start from Chapter 6 from Monday evening? What do you say?

Yes exactly, only Hagrid and somehow McGonagall felt the pain of little Harry losing his parents as I had felt in the first chapter. Getting brought up by your parents vs getting brought up by your relatives is completely different & painful in most cases. How Petunia has treated him all these years in absence of his parents is not rare and this can destroy one orphan's whole future. But in case of Harry, his future hasn't been destroyed as it was pre planned that he'll taken in time and be trained in Hogwarts.
