It is scary to see Malini’s character portraying a range of psychotic disorders and being passed off as a normal woman fighting back for her husband. The list of disorders Malini displays are as follows:

Cluster A;

Paranoid personality disorder

Schizoid personality disorder

Schizotypal personality disorder

Delusional disorder

Cluster B:

Antisocial personality disorder

Borderline personality disorder

Narcissistic personality disorder

Histrionic personality disorder

Cluster C:

Dependent personality disorder

One can google the above list and see how they match Malini to the T. If a person behaves like Malini, she needs a psychiatrist. In a country where there is no or very little awareness of mental health issues, staging these disorders as a masala to the story ( and thereby prompting responses that support such behaviour) is dangerous!!! I am appalled to see how lightly mental health issues are presented on ITV and normalised—-this serial should be accountable for creating such a perception.

She’s actually milder compared to others around tv, but more suffocating as people like her do exist thus more frustrating to watch it being presented like this. It’s shocking me how blind she is to the other person’s consent in her dream world.

The whole of itv needs to learn mental health is not a joke. And yeah, makers need a reminder multiple times they have used mental health problems as a plot device. Even imlie’s physical abuse supposed to be dealt by her because ‘mature’ hai. That girl would need intensive therapy in reality after the taunts since childhood till now, birth family revelation and physical abuse

DT Note

Mental health is a really sensitive and triggering issue. Bringing that up casually for fictional characters is against the rules.

Please we expect some basic understanding from everyone so that you don't bring up any of these issues just to express your dislikes for certain fictional characters.
