@bold: 10000000% percent. Raghav is actually, excluding his bad moments, an overall very progressive guy. He lets her 9/10 times do whatever she wants. He lets her run his home, his family and their relationship. In fact he encourages her to succeed. Amma as well lets Pallavi do as she wants, what she wants, etc. It is so rare for Amma to expect something of Pallavi. Thats why the one time she did and Pallavi couldn't deliver - Amma was really upset.

They really have no expectations from her except really just love, attention, and respect. And that's normal.

D fam is not the same way. She had become such a crutch to them that they couldn't see her as beyond that. I don't think they see Pallavi as her own person. They see her as an extension of their family. Whereas Raos value more of her individuality.
