Let me start off by saying how bummed I was with Virat not stopping the yoga instructor while she was talking nonsense in front of Sai.
If there was even a small iota of logic in this scene, I didn't see it.
Why will anyone wait until someone spills all the secrets of your past love in front of your wife? He need not understand Sai's POV, need not even be sensitive to Sai's feelings - even then instinctively anyone would have stopped a third person from talking about your past in front of the girl whom you are trying to win over. Even from purely Virat's POV it doesn't make sense. They could have changed the scene to yoga instructor speaking to Virat alone but Sai overhearing it.
Sai then confronts Virat about his failure to object/stop the yoga instructor. Virat would been left with no answers to give, no defence to offer, because he knows he has been foolish. In his hadbadahat, he blabbers something that comes out all wrong.
I was irritated with Virat's dialogues when he said "us waqt sach tha" - because I thought he was talking about his past 'relationship' - which he himself acknowledged (to Pakhi) was just an infatuation. But reading the replies here, it looks like he was referring to what the yoga instructor was talking about ...or more metaphorically everything that happened in the yoga resort.
First of all he was overwhelmed with emotions and anxiety at Sai's response. So he said what he thought was best at the time - to be honest and say "yes, that did happen in the past and I'm not denying it". He was willing to be honest - not only in his words, his whole demeanor indicated that he was sincere. Denying the past or pretending that it doesn't exist is actually more insulting. He did not say what he essentially should have - namely apologized for not stopping the yoga lady and that what he had with Pakhi was just an infatuation. But still I wouldn't begrudge the man for what he said under the circumstances and mental state he was in. Ofcourse with the writers showing the yoga instructor saying these things in front of Sai...this dialogue of his seems more silly than insensitive. This is how they f*CK up Virat as well as the scene.
As far as understanding how Sai must have felt, he is not there yet. In fact SaiRat are not there yet. Virat missed seeing Sai looking disturbed. He couldn't hear the pain in her voice. He is too caught up in his emotions and focused on whether Sai will reciprocate his feelings or not that he misses reading Sai properly.
