Akshaye in the 90s weren't a good actor IMO. In movies such as Mohabbat, Kudrat, Laawaris, or even the blockbuster ones like Border, Taal or Aa ab laut chalen, his acting didn't look very convincing to me. He got better at it with age, and it reflects in movies like Dil chahta hai, Race, Mom and Ittefaq. I think he does a great job with characters that aren't just one-dimensional and has different things to offer but he hardly gets such scripts. Even in Humraaz, which was an okay-ish movie for me, his character was what kept the story interesting for me to stick till the end.
