All I'm seeing is excuses made for names associated with non-Muslim villains in history. Names that are commonly used today despite their people doing some of the worse things possible.

Objectively speaking -

an asshole and effed up dude named Timur torture and killed people centuries ago in the most brutal way.

an asshole and effed up dude named Ted Bundy raped and mutilated so many women over the course of YEARS in the United States. Before his death he admitted that the numbers of his killings are in the 3 digits.

An asshole and effed up dude named Ram gang raped, tortured and mutilated an innocent girl on a bus.

But only the Muslim names will cause uproar. Isn't this silly and selective? And because Jehengir was the name of a Mughal that automatically hurts sentiments.

Actually the real issue is not Jehangir, its still Taimur. Sif nd Kareena had claimed that their son wasn't named after that maniac, but them naming their seccond kid Jehangir sseems to drive home the point that the name might have had some...ermmm...'historical' referenes.

And when I say history, I mean large-scale historical events. that happened long ago. Nobody will regard Nirbhaya gangrape or Ted Bundy as 'history'. Come on, I'm sure you know what I mean when I'm talking about history.

And no, it's not just Muslim names. try naming your kid Hitler in Israel, Stalin in Russia or Idi Amin in Uganda. 😃

And Alexander the Great? I'm sure that's historic enough?

And you basically came up with rules. So a man with any name can do an my atrocious crime that is historic. But has to be a conquerer. Has to have killed in conquest but oh Asoka repented so he's exempt. So convenient. Let's be real, who assasinated Gandhi. Nathuram? I believe that name would not cause any problem.

(Ted Bundy is historic and much more known around the world than Taimur. I doubt anyone outside of India knows Taimur. Hitler created World War 2, can't really compare him to anyone really).

These Kings have harmed and killed people and destroyed hundreds of temples. They remind the Indian population of the atrocities which were done by these Moghul Kings on their country's people.

To understand this sentiment, one has to be an Indian citizen or should have grown up in India. Indians don't have any issue with the Muslims or their names, it's certain and specific names. We are used to Muslim names, we have Muslim friends, Muslim family members too, inter-religious marriages are also legal. When a person lives in a Secular country one is expected to be sensitive to all communities unlike countries with one uniform religion.

I understand it's hard for some IF members to relate to this, but it is what it is. Kareena and Saif have selected names they have liked and loved them. As parents, they have a right to do so, at the same time they have shown their fans and people how indifferent they are. And not to worry, this trolling as some like to call it will also stop after a while.

I don't expect Indian Forum members from other countries to understand or relate to this, but things are not as simple in India as it is in other countries. The least people can do is be civil to each other's posts.

No offense meant to any Religion, Community, Country, or any of the fans.

The hospital was founded by Jehangirs - a Parsee couple. Saifeena should've given a disclaimer that they were naming their son after Sir Cowasji Jehangir...!!!
