To set the record straight, I'm a proud Muslim and I certainly don't associate the names of my religion with terrorists.

I felt a certain way about a situation, I voiced it. I won't change my thoughts because random people are getting offended online. I stand by my words.

Abram as, is actually of biblical Hebrew origin. But I'm guessing its kept for a reason as it also has 'Ram' in it.

A lot of Hindus have names like Aisha or Sara, doesn't change the fact that they are Muslim names and same with Esha too.

I think there is a difference between Islamic, Arabic, Persian and Urdu names.

As far as I know Suhana is Urdu and not Arabic. Or even if its Arabic, it is associated more with the language rather than religion, unlike names like Ibrahim, or Muhommad.

In any case - Arabic and Persian or Urdu doesn't necessarily have to do with religion at all.

We use a lot of Urdu words in our daily vocabulary, we don't say we are using 'muslim' language. Its a product of religious influence but doesn't encompass it. Also , the language spoken is 'Hindustani' not Hindi - its mostly a mixture of hindi, Urdu, punjabi etc. Pure Hindi would actually sound very different.

My religion sect categorised under Hinduism, the Holy book has parts in Hindi, Urdu and Persian. As all these languages were common at the time. Some people keeping names from the Holy Book end up with non Hindi names.

Nothing wrong with "Muslim" names, but of all the names you could choose, you chose to name your kids after violent Turkish conquerors who massacred Indians? If you consider yourself an Indian, why would you do this? How many Israelis name their kids Hitler?

Which brings me to my next point, why is religion coupled with culture? Most Iranians are Muslims, but many Iranians keep Iranian names, and don't adopt Arab names, same with Turks, but when it comes to south asian Muslims, there is this inferiority complex and this need to associate with Arab/Persian/Turkish cultural heritage and not Indian, it's a form of cultural imperialism.

They most likely did but the spelling was semen and me being very immature, automatically had to suppress a laugh because I didn’t know how else to pronounce the name other than how it was spelt 😂

Orr.. maybe they both just liked the name? Geez. This fake Hindu-nationalism pisses me off more and more by the day. Now a couple is not even allowed to give their kids a Muslim or Persian name.
