I wouldn't call Bon selfish Rinnie, because no selfish person has the kind of devotion that she has... She is extremely selfless, however, she is a little too reliant on Ani, and that has blinded her to see what Ani isn't telling her, but has expressed in more ways than one... That right now, he cannot fight her battles for her. It is like Kaka said in the 1st scene, that 8 years back, Ani only had to account for himself and Bon, but now he has to account for his family and TP as well, which includes Shashwati and the kiddos. Bon made her dream his, and achieved it. What Bon needs to realize at this moment is that Ani needs her to fight for herself, he needs someone he can rely on. She wanted to be capable enough to stand next to him, so she should use her capability to help him, instead of adding to his hurt.
Sorry about using the word selfish, I did not direct it at you as such but I saw some posts on SM where people were calling her that. I just used it while replying to you.
I agree, she is extremely selfless and quite reliant on Ani. This bothered me quite a lot for a while, because my image of post leap Bondita was a young woman who might not be completely mature but was quite sensible, independent, bold and confident due to the tools given to her to grow in this world. I wanted her to move ahead without Anirudh and fight for the causes that she believed in. I legit wished to see Bondita fighting her own battles and Anirudh just looking on from the shadows, proud of the woman she had become.
But, that wasn't the way it went. The first hint of this came during the 100 mirror scene where she completely broke apart upon hearing Ani's declaration of breaking off any relationship with her, she became a lifeless doll who had no purpose to move on and the way she jumped back to being herself the moment she found that smallest of threads that could connect her back him said a lot to me.
That's when I realized that Bondita will fight for the right causes, she will utilize her tools in the right way, she will do everything but she cannot do it without Anirudh. She is completely lost if he isn't acknowledging her or accepting her in his life. Her life seems to amount to nothing for her without him and this is because, if you truly just look at the core of the character, ie, Bondita Das, she was a simple little child who questioned the society but never actually thought she would become the change for this world, she never had those ambitions or dreams, she only knew to question the wrongs that she found in front of her.
It was Ani who made her into this woman that she is today by encouraging her to fly and spread her wings. She did exactly that, spent 8 years just dreaming about the day she could be with him finally, she kept going to that fountain and collecting coins every day for the day she could reunite with him.
That was her life. She did not have any responsibility, she didn't have that ambition of coming back to India to do something that could change the country, all she had was a dream that her Sakha babu placed in her hands and she carefully fulfilled.
Should she realize that she is not helping him by being this way? Yes. But, would that really go along with the character graph we have seen of her so far? Maybe not.
For her, he will always be her mentor, the one who will guide her, he will always hold that position in her life.
She will always seek him out for showing her the way. That's why even to end this enmity, she can see no other way than to have him on her side, she is Arjuna who cannot go ahead without her Krishna, she needs him to guide her but the moment she reached out to him, he turned away from her and this has a very deep impact on her.
Thus, even though she knows all the responsibilities and circumstances, she also knows that he has said it himself that his life holds no meaning without her, he desperately needs her in his life, etc etc.
So, his words have instilled that thought in her mind that if they are together, he will be happy, he will be content, he will be the man that he truly is, if they become the team they were before, it will solve all the problems. This along with the fact, she already has that unwavering devotion towards him where she finds no meaning to her life without him makes her do all these things.
